Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

PIR Liberty Weekend Question
So I know it is normal for the SR to fly out on Saturday if they are going to A-school in another state but my SR graduates 10/19 but in his orders he got from MEPS the day he left it says his A-school starts 10/29. Will he still fly out the day after PIR most likely or will it be the following week? Or is it normal for them to start A-school a week later?

Yes, he will leave right away. They have to go through an indoc training, introduction to the base, liberty policies, duty procedures and so on, once they arrive at their new school. As for starting exactly on the 29th, well, maybe. Maybe not. But they'll keep him busy for sure.

Ok thanks! If he flies out later in the day Saturday I can get a military pass to go passed security and hang out until he leaves right?

My husband orders from MEPs saying he would start the 14th of Feb, he graduated the 11th and they didnt even fly him out until the 15th and he started about a month later. He is an AM too so he classed up really fast. If you know where he is going for A school there is probably a group on here for it and you might be able to find out the average hold time to class up by asking around :)
