My Boyfriend will be graduating A school Nov 9th. He will not have to report to WA until Nov 26th. We had been planning on him coming out to see me once he was done with school. BUT he just found out he has to put in a request to come because I do not live in his "home state." He is from TX and I live in Southern California. Obviously he does not need to request to go home, but I guess he found out if he wants to travel somewhere other than his listed home address, he needs approval.

Is anyone familiar with this type of request?

Trying to make tentative travel plans in the meantime to go to TX and see him there instead.

Just want to know what our chances are on him coming out here.

Hmm I have never heard of that... Honestly I dont think they even knew where my husband was on his leave between schools. I mean I dont know how true that is but They handed him a ticket to WA and said report by such and such date see ya later. He later went and bought a ticket to somewhere else and came home and then didnt really talk to anyone until he got to his command. He talked to his sponsor about if they were whites or blues. Otherwise I dont think anyone knew where he was or what he doing.

I will say if he was told he has to do it, especially by a chief then it could have changed recently. so I would definitely do it if he plans on coming to see you. Just to cover his butt. All it is, is a form. I would assume just a leave chit pretty much.

On his leave paper work he has to put where he is going, even if he is going home he has to put that information.  There is no such thing as him not putting the paper work in for his leave request, even if he goes home he still has to put that information in.

It is his leave, as long as he is in the USA he just fills out the paper work stating where he is going and than it is done.

IF he is going home first than to see you, than to his duty station he puts that information down.  Not a big deal...and no reason is should be disapproved.

Okay I feel better now! I think he just might have been confused with what the whole "request" was.. I'm sure he has probably found out more about it today during class but I went ahead and bought a plane ticket last night just in case..(on Southwest because I figured if I cancel it I'll at least have a credit later on down the road. They are good with that kind of stuff..)  It was really spur of the moment, but I found such a good deal. The travel dates are two weeks away, and most flights I saw weere about $500 dollars for a roundrip, and I found this one on Southwest for $295...so I said why not?  I'm sure I'll be flying to see him at some point in the near future right?
