For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Received his box, now what?
My fiance's box was waiting for my when I got home from work today. I've already been missing him like crazy, and seeing his stuff has really put me in a funk. I tried to study for the LSAT as a distraction tonight, but my heart wasn't in it.
Does anyone know how long it usually takes the form letter to arrive? I've been writing letters since the day he left (Oct. 3), and I've seen others post horror stories about their SR's not receiving letters during the first mail calls and feeling dejected and lonely. My SR isn't the emotional type, but I know bootcamp is hard and any bit of support helps. I never went to the recruiter's office with my fiance', so I don't have a relationship with the recruiter to know if I can even ask him for my honey's address... I just don't want him to not hear from me during the first mail call. Does anyone have any advice in this situation?

You get the formal letter pretty quickly. I got my letter the same week he left. (He left on Monday, got my formal letter on Saturday). The personal letters will take more time. It took 20 days to receive letters from my SR. He also had to wait about 17 days to read all the letters I wrote him. It's going to take patience, so please hang in there!!
