My husband got verbal orders to Yorktown Virginia. This means he is going to be part of the riverine units. So if there is anyone in the same situation please let me know. Also if anyone is living in Yorktown where is a nice place to live and all of that good stuff. It would be great to have someone to talk to. I will be alone for the most part down there so it would be nice to have some friends.

I agree that verbal orders aren't set in stone. However, Bret got his verbals for Rivron 3 and his hard copy a couple weeks later. I dont live out there, but I was just there to visit. It's a nice area, heavily military. The base he'd live on isn't too far away from shopping and restaurants and whatnot. People drive like idiots though, so watch out for that Haha. I met a bunch of the guys and gals and everyone was really friendly. Bret lives in bachelor housing, so the family housing is different I'm sure, unless you're living off base. What's your husbands rank? I think they have to be E5 to live off base.
Wes,(my husband) is an E3 and as long as he is married he can put in a chit to live off base as long as we are there for more than six months.
From what I have heard most of Yorktown is pretty nice we are getting stationed over in newport news and we were told to avoid newport news and shoot for anywhere in Yorktown or some parts of Hampton.
meagan, will you be stationed there also? where is your sailor stationed right now and how long did it take him to get orders, sorry I just have so many questions and I hate waiting for orders.
omg I am so sorry I just saw this! We will be stationed in Newport News :) right now we are in Washington state! My husband got his orders abt 3 weeks before the end of his a school if that lol.
He just told me that his unit got like ...canceled I guess so Im not sure if he will be going somewhere else or if we will just got to unit one or two we still have yet to get orders. Its very frustrating
That seems pretty odd since Bret is Rivron 3 and he hasn't mentioned being cancelled. Lol I'll send him a message and see what happens I guess.
I'm not sure that's what Westin was told...I only know what he tells me. I just wish that I would know what is going on so that I can look for an apartment.

Oh yes the wait for orders is sooo frustrating! Hang in there tho and you will get them!!
