Hi everyone!! I am new to the Navy thing. My husband is in basic now and I am still not taking it very well. We have a 3 year old and neither her or I can sleep at night due to him being gone! I know we will be fine, but like so many others have said, we are just trying to keep busy! I am in college full time and I work full time along with her being in preschool. So we stay pretty busy during the day, but the problem comes at night when its time to lay down and sleep. We just can't do it. She cries for Daddy, then I cry and its just a crying mess!! Has anyone else had this problem? Or maybe something simular!? If anyone has any advice for what to do with this, I would so GREATLY appreciate it!!!! I am willing to try anything!!! For all the ladies that are going to be in Great Lakes on this date, see you then!! I am so excited and cannot wait!

Nights really are the hardest. I just lay there thinking about him and missing him like crazy. It is miserable. Then I remember, the faster I go to sleep, faster tomorrow will come. Don't think about it as you have been away from him yet another day, think of it as you are one day closer to seeing his face again. It is really helpful. I can't imagine what it is like being a wife with a young child. Having a boyfriend is hard enough.

Oh girl its pretty hard. Part of my problem is she is missing him so she isn't sleping so I can't sleep either....

Hmmm, I'm sorry, I don't know what to tell you. How long have you guys been married?

2 years in April.

This past Sunday was my boyfriend and I's 9 months. It is just crazy spending so much time with someone then, poof they are gone and you barely have any contact with them. It is honestly the hardest thing I have ever had to go through. I don't think I have cried this much in my life. Not even when my great- grandfather and my dog died. I just try to think of it as once I am done with college we can get married and I ca go with him wherever he gets sent and him doing the navy is going to benefit us both in the long run.

I know what you mean. For the past few years he's been here everyday and now he's gone. He couldnt go more than a few hours without checking up on me so I can't imagine what he's doing now. Probably going just as crazy as we are! This is the hardest part, after well be able to talk to them and eventually go visit during school...so just like you, I'm trying to make it one day at a time but its not always so easy.

Yea, mine is getting sent down to SC for A School. He is in the Nuke program. We have been saving up money for awhile now, and I am going to down to visit him for my birthday. I am so excited. After basic, things are going to be easier. I mean we Skype, text, call, email and whatever.

Yea I am looking forward to when I can talk to him on a regular basis again! Mine is staying in great lakes so ill have to go there. But after winter I bet Chicago is beautiful!

He is going to Goose Creek which is about 20 minutes outside of Charleston and 1.5 hours outside of Myrtle Beach. Depending on what phase of A School he is in when we go to the beach, I may be able to visit him for a day. Even though we can potentially communicate with them everyday, I don't know if it is just nuke school or all schools, they have to study really hard, but when they study they have to stay at the school. They could be studying until really late, which, with me in college, may be a problem with sleeping pattern, but I am willing to lose hours of sleep at the expense of my grades if it means that I get to talk to him. Him, on the other hand, may not. He is very serious about my schooling, and I hope he put that aside and calls me even if it is midnight.

I've heard of it before, but I'm sure hell make a point to talk to you all the time. Hell be lonely regardless if he's studying....
