Does anyone know how long it takes for tricare prime to get approved after i submit the information? I am currently enrolled in tricare standard.. i just found out about the prime. I really need to see a doctor as soon as possible though. I am worried it will take too long and wonder if i should just go to see a doctor now..

anyone remember how long it took?

thanks so much

If you're still on Standard, you can see your doctor immediately under that. Prime will take effect on the day that you put on the form for it to start. I switched from Prime to Standard and gave it about a week, and then two weeks later got a letter of confirmation that it had started on the day I requested. Good luck!
Prime is totally free but you have to see military doctors. With Standard you can see any doctor that takes Tricare and you just have a co-pay. I'm sure there are a few more variations between the two but that's the biggest factor.
http://www.tricare.mil/  please review the website about the different kind of coverages....there is more to it...it isn't seeing a military doc vs not seeing a military doc.
That's why I switched. It was important to me to be able to choose who was giving me prenatal care. Unfortunately I miscarried but I'm still glad I was able to choose my doctor and go to the ER and hospital I was used to. So definitely read about it before deciding but for me it was the right choice :)
he doesnt get to get prime. If he is active duty he goes to the doctors and clincs on base, I believe. Thats how it is for hubby. Are you already at the duty station with him? I was able to get on Prime Remote before I joined him. So It was prime and all free. The "remote" part means ur not close to base so any doctor that takes tricare can be your pcm. I loved it. I just moved a few months ago to my hubby and got a pcm at the military hospital. So far to get an apt has been horrible. I liked my sons pcm and mine was okay too but I had to wait a month before getting my son in and two months for me =/ Im sure u being preggo it wouldnt be so bad. But if you go on prime u will have to go to a pcm and get a refferal to see an OBGYN. I am about to switch to standard so i can go to my eye doctor back home. I had a referral back then but since i moved it "doesnt count anymore"
I have a quick question - my son left for Navy bootcamp and BEFORE he was going he and his fiance (who is pregnant) got a marriage license, set the date at the JP and planned to get married.  His recruiter told him absolutely not and that doing that  would postpone his ship date and that they could get married right after graduation instead. So they didn't get married with the plan to get married right after graduation.  Also, my son will be a Grad and Go...straight to CT the next morning after graduation... Does anyone have any ideas on how we can get them married right after graduation?  Thank you for any ideas and/or input!!
