So, my husband had his leave a little after September. We went to see him graduate bootcamp at Great Lakes, IL. The sucky part about that was seeing&being with him for a couple of hours after. Then the next day we spent the day with him at the Airport because he had to already leave for A School in Pensacola. It has been very hard everytime he left. I'm glad he was here for our daughters birthday when she turned two. Sometimes i feel so alone and empty because my other half is half a world away from me. I cant imagine what our daughter feels at times when she looks for him. I am just trying to findsupport and spouses whom may have gone through this. He is delpoyed for 8months. I miss him so so much. All we have is emails which is nice and way better than what is was like when he was in bootcamp. I miss and love my Sailor. I am SO proud and thankful to have him and to be his wife..

Hi jasmine! I went through the same thing this year with my two year old..things used to get so bad that i had to finally take his car to his parents house because my son would see it in the driveway and think he was home. I got him a lot of books about ships and the ocean and would tell him that daddy is working in the ocean and he seemed to be fascinated by that...he also liked seeing pictures all the time, ans had his favorite one by his bed at night. My son is autistic however and rarely said anything or got upset, but every now and then hed stop whatever he was doing and go in his room and look at the picture. At this age, they definitely dont understand. All you can do is talk to her about her dad everyday, show her pictures of them together, and tell her he will be back and that he loves her!
Thank you so much for replying and your kind words. It has been great help and wonderful advice..sometimes i feel like i am the only one that feels like this..so its nice to know i am not alone..thanks again. Many blessings to You and uour family! :)
I don't know if you've checked them out yet, but military one source has a lot of great resources for kids with deployed parents, and the materials are free. They even have a Dvd where Elmos daddy deploys...
