Ladies,

I have a few questions about graduation day.  First, my dad is NOT on the list to get into graduation, but can he still get on base and see my fiancé after the ceremony is over?  In other words, if he's not on the list, can he be in the building/on base?  Second, my fiancé told me that they are not allowed to leave, but we can hang out with him at the USO that day until about 8:00.  Does this literally mean that he can't leave the building, or can they just not leave base?  Third, does anyone know what airport the SC nuces leave out of?  And, when do they usually leave, if there is a "usual" time.

Any other advice or insight would be greatly appreciated!!

At the Great Lakes graduation I had to show ID to get on base. But the first building you walk Into is where they had the lists of names so he won't be able to go in there I believe. It could be different, but most likely not. Also my sailor was allowed to leave base but his curfew was 8 PM some had different curfews and some got to spend the whole weekend with their family. It just depends on a couple different things. This is all for the Great Lakes graduation so I hope this was helpful? Good luck!:)

They are very strict about the rules. If your not on the list, it is probably best to wait at the hotel until graduation has ended. He will not be permitted anywhere on the base, even the welcome center, there is not a waiting room. you can find more info about graduation here : www.bootcamp.navy.mil its a great website, im always on there, it is also the website where you have to print your gate pass. everyone separate person over the age of 18 needs a gate pass. The website also give insite into life at boot camp, theres a great interactive video if you are curious. About the not leaving base, yes that is a possibility.  Because if they are flying out within 24hrs. they may want them to stay close and not leave the base. So unfortunately your father may not even get to see your fiancé because of the rules applied. the recreation center will be open for those who are not allowed to depart because they are departing. The rrecreation center as well as the surrounding base has movie theater, bowling alley, and lots of different recreational activities. The website above should also lead you to a pamphlet that has this information. As well as travel discount info when coming to graduation. You can only find out the airport schedule through your sailor, no one else will know. and most likely you will find out either right before you leave to get there or when you get there, so ask your sailor for the information. Good luck to you and your sailor! when is PIR?
