Wear something you want to see in pictures latter. But do NOT wear something where the girls are hanging out...or your middrift is showing, or your butt is all showing. Wear something you would wear to church with your grandma. PIR is a formal cermoney for the military memebers and they are wearing their best unifrom. They will be wearing thier whites...I would not recommend wearing white. The weather up here can be anywhere from 60's to 90's..and in the hall it will be even warmer as there are 13 divisions, which means the place will be packed! You will be walking..so if you can't walk in heels, don't wear them.
Think, brunch at a classy restaurant, not club on Friday night. I wore a black w/ white polka dots sundress (sorta retro/50's) so we would look nice together in photos. He'll be wearing his dress whites. I wore cute sandals but changed to some nice heels right before liberty call and changed back after he went to his ship to pack. There is a lot of walking if you go across and have lunch or visit the NEX on RTC side with your Sailor. I agree with Angie about the girls/midriff/butt. If you sit at the top of the bleachers, it's HOT. We only had 7 divisions and it was stifling. I took the baby for a walk before the ceremony and it was WAY cooler at floor level. Floor level = bonus that you get to your Sailor faster after liberty call. My in-laws picked the seats at the top and I was pretty disappointed.
I live near Great Lakes and drive in every weekend to see my hubby at A School. Our weather has been goofy lately. It's been really cool at night, in the low 60's and pretty warm in the day, like today was 91. I needed a jacket last weekend when I dropped him off after liberty. So I guess, take a jacket with you if you'll be out at night, but wear something for warm weather. Your Sailor will likely be wearing his NSU's (navy service uniform, the khaki top and black pants) on Sat and Sun if he's not shipping out right away, so something a little more casual like jeans and a cute top would be good. In the early part of Sept it's still basically August weather.
okay! :) thanks both of you! ill keep an eye out for a dress thats not showing to much and ill pack some warmer clothes as well just in case!
I think on the day of my sailors PIR (which is two days from now - woot woot!) it's only supposed to be 68 degrees! It took me FOREVER to find an outfit that I liked because I felt so much pressure to look good lol. When I shopped I kept the "church" guideline tucked in my head so I wouldn't walk out with something that would embarrass my sailor or me when I look back on pics in the future. I ended up getting a really pretty teal dress at Dillard's. They can be pretty pricey but it's a fairly classy store so you'll find cute dresses like they would sell at say (idk)... Charlotte Russe or Forever 21 which might be deemed kinda trashy for such a nice event like this. They 9 times out of 10 are a more appropriate length (also minus all the mesh cutouts, low necklines, low backs etc.). I did, however, buy my shoes at Charlotte Russe. I'm a sucker for an awesome pair of heels ;). But then again I could walk around in a pair of heels all day. I hope this helped out and good luck!
My bf just graduated on august 3. Expect Heat! Dress however you want. I wore a dress and high heels bc personally I wanted to look good for my bf. Remember he hasn't seen you in 2 months. Everyone said it was going to be super cold in there. I didn't think it was cold at all. Maybe bc I was nervous to see him lol. At PIR you will see a whole bunch of variety. shorts and tank tops, dresses, suits, casual, etc. So dress how you want but be sexy for you bf! :) Have fun and Best of wishes for you and our sailor. If you have anymore questions you can ask lol! :)
thanks everyone :). im gunna look for a nice dress but bring my other outfit just in case its kinda chilly. i dont want to look to dressy though. ill probably just find really cute summer dress but make sure it doesnt show to much!
& I thought i was the only one freaking out about my outfit, lol! My boyfriend is graduating on sept.14th &i'm scared it's going to be already too cold to wear a summer skirt, but maybe i'll match it with a button up sweater or something to make it look more "fall appropriate".
michelledubicki you have a week less left than me! bet you're anxious, but the good type of anxious! :):)
i already started packing lol, i think it makes the time go by faster! i know if i found a dress its gunna be cold on that day but thats why im gunna pack another outfit just in case! im sooooooooo anxious :)))) i bet you are too! :)
hell yeah i am!! i'm starting school next week and i got a second job, so i'm sure the time will fly by for me haha. i live like an hour away from Great Lakes, so I will probably just drive there in the morning.. no packing needed for me. do you know where your boyfriend will be stationed for A school?
your so lucky you like that close! you probably wont be able to sleep lol i know i wont! he's going to san antonio for MA. whats your boyfriend going for!?
