For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Offhand, there is me, sailorwifemom, and Angie. Maybe more.
I loved the Navy and being a sailor, even the stuff I hated and which sucked. Hard to explain.
Dual military is damn difficult. First term sailors do not qualify for co-location, although they can apply for it. Even if you get it, you cannot be at the same command, although you can be at two different commands on the same base. If you are both on ships, they might be deployed on completely opposite schedules. You can expect a lot of time apart, although lining up duty stations and PCS rotations is not impossible. Some couples do just fine, but the Navy always comes first. The money is outstanding. If one of you manages to serve for 20 years, retirement pay and benefits are a decent lifeline during a second career.
You would want to be in a rate which gets similar assignments as your SO, but not the very same rate. That is because you go where the jobs are, if you two can fill the same job and only one slot is open, guess what? They will send one of you away. That's why I chose not to re-enlist after nine years, and being eligible for E-7.
Likewise, you would not choose two rates too dissimilar: aviation and subs. If he's a surface sailor, you want to be a surface sailor too if possible.
