So it's been a good while since I've actually posted a discussion up here. I wrote one at the end of June, right when my boyfriend left for basic training. He is scheduled to graduate on August 17, 2012!! :) I mainly wanted to write a discussion to say thank you for all the support y'all have given me. The road has been rough, and it's definitely been hard. However, having this site and the support of all you amazing women makes it so much easier! If you want to see how much I've changed, read my post on this page that I made in June...I was a nervous wreck! It's hard to believe he will be graduating in 2 weeks, and it's a great feeling, one that we will all experience soon enough. He is staying in Great Lakes for A-School, and will be in the AECF program. He will be either an ET (Electronic Technician) or FC (Fire Controlman). He doesn't get to choose which, so I'm still waiting to hear on that. I hope to meet some of you ladies that have someone going to Great Lakes for A-School. Hell, it's nice talking to anybody up here! I want you all to know that I'm always here if you want to talk when the going gets tough. I had plenty of people up here listen to me groan and what not when my boyfriend first left. I hope to hear from some of y'all soon :) It's nice coming up here and knowing that other people can relate to your situation. Best wishes to you all, and I hope I get to meet more of you guys up here!!

Congrats on making it this far with your sanity! Everyone says that the Sailors are more mature and changed for the better when they come out of bootcamp. My Sailor (husband PIR 7/20) definitely fits that description, albeit in subtle ways. But I think us Navy Loved Ones also grow and change with the whole bootcamp experience. I know I have. You've almost made it! Keep it up and stick around to help the ones who come after you. Hooyah Navy Loved Ones!

Thanks girl :) Still have a long way to go though! Where is your husband going to school? I hope this next year flies by!

He's in Great Lakes, which is awesome because its only a 2 hour drive to see him on the weekends when he doesn't have duty.  We're going to a concert tomorrow, so there is some semblance of normalcy.

Oh, that's awesome! What's he going to school for? Great Lakes is 16 hours from me, so that kinda sucks.

Yeah, I'm surprised how fast it's flown by! I expected it to crawl, but I'm expecting that to happen during A-School since he will be gone much longer. And I come here everyday and I really enjoy reading what everyone else has to say :)

My husband graduated boot camp on 2/3 and we have been in GL since then while he attends ET A school.  It gets so much easier after boot camp!!  Granted, I was lucky enough to get to move here and be with him.  But just the ability to communicate on a regular basis after he graduated basic was HUGE!!  You've made it through the toughest part.  Congrats to you and your boyfriend!  And good luck on the next faze of your journey.  :)

Wow, he's already been there for 6 months?? How much longer does he have? I'm still waiting to hear if he's going to be an ET or FC.

did you find out if he is an fc or et?

Wow, I completely forgot about this post! :) Lol. And yes, he is an ET (of course he got stuck with the one that had longer schooling!) But he's in his ATT classes now, they have to do that before their actual A-School classes. But I'm visiting him soon, I get to see him in 12 days!! <3

cool only 12 days to go, bet your are looking forward to that. From what I heard its an honor to be given the ET, harder course. Good on him. :)

What are ATT Classes?

ATT Classes before A school....hummm thats new to me. The new things I'm learning is an adventure in its own.

My husband leave in 5 weeks for BC, he wants FC.

ATT classes are classes that are mandatory to take before they start A-School (at least for ET and FC). It gets them ready for A-School. From what my boyfriend is saying, ATT classes for him are going to last 12 weeks. And just so you know, your husband can't choose ET or FC. He will be given one when he is in bootcamp and wont find out which one until the last week or two of bootcamp. Keep your fingers crossed for FC!! That's what my boyfriend wanted too, sadly he got the other. Hoping for the best for you!!

ET really is an awesome rate.  Yes it is more school, but trust me, it will be worth it.  Plus FCs are going out in to the fleet sooner.  I don't know about you ladies, but I want to be with my husband as long as possible before he has to deploy!  ;)
