I'm a Navy Wife and I created this group back when I was a girlfriend and my now husband had gone to bootcamp. Its funny because i joined this website when they had under 50 members. This website has been sooooo helpful and I met so many people on here that gave great advice. I made this group so that we could all come together and give eachother advice and share ideas. I see that this group is growing more and more by the day, Im happy to see that because so many wives/fiances/and girlfriends are clueless when it comes the military lifestyle. Not knowing what to expect and not knowing about deployments, bootcamp, duty stations, etc. I want this to be the place you all recommend because so many people on this site are knowledgeable and very helpful. Once again thanks for joining my group and i hope you get all the information you need. I dont get to log on as much as i used to but i try my best to get on here. So if u have any questions feel free to make a discussion topic and Im positive that it will get answered if not, inbox me :-) Take Care ♥

When I went to boot we got two or three calls. One in the beggining. [like week 3 or 4?] One toward the end and then right after battlestations. LAME. Two times my husband was underway so I couldn't talk to him. SUCKED so bad. It's hard.

Jennifer- It might still be a couple weeks before you get a phone call. I think I only got two the entire time he was in boot camp. I know you think that you need to be super strong and not cry, but TRUST ME, you need to cry. You'll feel SO much better after you do. Its hard being apart, but its even harder if you try to bottle your feelings inside.

thank you - I just talked to the ombudsman. We just don't know at this point what will happen. If I'm not sponsored to join him there, then I will just have to wait and go visit a few times when his schedule allows and sell the house and get things in order, sell off our stuff and start over with him there. Not the perfect scenario but doable. Guess we will know soon enough.

sschick- just be sure to look into command sponsorship for hawaii even though it is the US, it gets counted as an overseas base. And in most cases you need to be an E-4 or higher to have dependents on overseas orders. Check if you need a waiver to be on his orders when he gets them.

If you can't get on his orders, you could still move to hawaii, only you would be paying for everything, your move, your housing, etc

good luck with your research!

I told him that i would go anywhere to be with him. I'd rather have the little bit of time when he is off duty than the emptiness I have at our house here without him. I am hoping that maybe I can find work ahead of time or possibly transfer my job. I work for the state education association in my state and am going to check with a contact I have on the national level to see if there may be a possible opening for me in the future. That would make things so much easier. It is just the two of us and I have already had to get used to being alone alot - it would just make it easier not being 4000 miles apart :) Hawaii sounds beautiful - I'd pick anywhere with him and I can't image a more perfect place to be with the one you love. Thanks.

I'm sorry I don't know what PCSing is? He finished bootcamp, A school and they gave him his orders for Hawaii and gave him 20 days leave. I picked him up on the 4th we got married on the 8th. He took a copy of our marriage license with him. I just don't know what to expect. He is an E1 until October.

I just had the best, craziest, busiest, most romantict and now exhausting and gutwrenching day of my life. Starting with pickin up my "fiance" 10 hours away from my home for his 20 days leave on May 4th. Seeing him walking towrds me with his bag and seeing him get closer and closer and just knowing he was mine once again - no miles between us. The tiring but exhilerating ride back home with him by my side. The final details we put together for our wedding. Our family and friends coming together to celebrate that magical day with us. Staying up all night and sleeping most of the day. Traveling to spend time with family, going to the movies, bbqs, having one of his new sailor friends over for 2 days before they both go separate parts of the world; looking over our wedding pictures and reliving it all over again. Cooking together; being silly together; locking the world out just for a little while. We stayed up all night last night to not miss a minute of our last few hours together. We talked and cried. We left the house at 5am and I had to walk away from him at the security checkin at 7. A part of me feels like the last 20 days were a dream - and I just woke up again alone. I tried to be strong the best I could - no tears at the airport. I heard from him at his change of plane location before he boarded the plane to Hawaii. The hardest part is not knowing much of anything yet. How long before i see him again? How soon I can move over with him? How long before he leaves out on his ship for sea duty? My heart left on that plane with him today.

Jennifer (Ship 9 DIV227)-- how long has he been gone? He's just in BC, right?
