I'm a Navy Wife and I created this group back when I was a girlfriend and my now husband had gone to bootcamp. Its funny because i joined this website when they had under 50 members. This website has been sooooo helpful and I met so many people on here that gave great advice. I made this group so that we could all come together and give eachother advice and share ideas. I see that this group is growing more and more by the day, Im happy to see that because so many wives/fiances/and girlfriends are clueless when it comes the military lifestyle. Not knowing what to expect and not knowing about deployments, bootcamp, duty stations, etc. I want this to be the place you all recommend because so many people on this site are knowledgeable and very helpful. Once again thanks for joining my group and i hope you get all the information you need. I dont get to log on as much as i used to but i try my best to get on here. So if u have any questions feel free to make a discussion topic and Im positive that it will get answered if not, inbox me :-) Take Care ♥

My bf is originally from VA beach and we are hoping that he gets stationed in VA; we will see. He has always told me how beautiful it is out there and sounds like a nice change of pace being near the ocean. I have lived in the mid-west my entire life. Keeping my fingers crossed. He started his schooling this week in Meridian and it sounds like he will be home for a visit around the beginning of May when he finishes up and gets his orders. I am playing the role of Bridezilla trying to plan a simple but special ceremony for when he gets back for our wedding. Things are coming together great - just need the little detail of the date.

Sorry I need to vent! Well I planned on seeing my boyfriend in May for our one year because the only other time I will be able to see him ithis year is at Christmas. But...seeing that I'm only 17 and don't turn 18 until right before I want to go to visit my boyfriend, my parents are deciding I'm probably not going to see him, and then asked why I was upset...urgh Along with that I just lost my best friend of 14 years because she refused to listen or try to understand what Ive been going through with 3 family members dying along with this situation and said she didn't need me as a friend anymore...

Ahh I love this site...Sorry it's so long I just needed to vent :] I feel better

Oh my goodness, this bootcamp crap is torture for me.. And they say the phone call comes in the third week.. I wonder when he will call.. I'm about to drive myself CRAZY!!!!!
Comment by NavyWife10 on April 7, 2010 at 6:45pm
Hey everyone... So it's Wed, and the start of the third week for my hubby in bootcamp. This Sunday was the first time he's been able to write home, but no letter, or no phone call.. Am I just over-reacting? I'm worried about him :( Someone help!!! How long does it generally take to get mail from Chicago to Alabama ?

NIck's Wife, we lived just a block or two over from Juvie Hall! On Hummingbird Lane. I loved Birdland, if nothing else than for the wonderful street names.

Eric;s wife, he will get BAH for her based on her zip code and his paygrade.

http://www.defensetravel.dod.mil/perdiem/bahfaq.html#20

Q1: Who is eligible for BAH?

A member assigned to permanent duty within the 50 United States, who is not furnished government housing, is eligible for a Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH), based on the member's dependency status at the permanent duty station ZIP Code. A member stationed overseas (except in Hawai’i and Alaska), including U.S. territories and possessions, who is not furnished government housing, is eligible for an Overseas Housing Allowance (OHA) based on the member's dependency status. If a member (except for a member paying child support) is serving an UNACCOMPANIED overseas tour, the member is eligible for BAH at the ‘with-dependent’ rate, based on the dependent's U.S. residence ZIP Code, plus FSH at the OCONUS PDS, if the member is not furnished government housing overseas.

QUESTION:

My sister is getting married to an E2 in the Navy. He is currently stationed in Japan. The military will not move her there for approximately 1 year. She is wondering if they will get BAH during the next year while she is here. She is currently living with my parents, but will be relocating to attend a University for the next year. Will they get BAH while she is living with them? And, will they get it while she is away at college?
