Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Ok ladies..Its official...My Bf is now part of the US Navy..He finished his MEPS today and got his job...He'll be in Advanced Electronics FC...He leaves for BC May 5th...Today has been a roller coaster of emotions..May 5th Seems so soon..Being apart from him last night about killed me..I can't imagine being apart for 2months...Then again while hes in A school then off to C school..I'm just going to have to make the best of the month we have together before he leaves..
I have a question...When their a school is in GL are they usually a Grad n Go after BC??

Bedroom Eligibility Based on Family Composition. The number of bedrooms for which a service member is eligible is based on the following rationale:
(1) When practical, one child per bedroom; when not available, the following will prevail:
(a) No parent(s) should have to share a bedroom with a child. (b) No more than two children should have to share any bedroom. (c) A child 6 years of age or older should not have to share a bedroom with a child of opposite sex. (d) A child 10 years of age or older is eligible for a separate bedroom.

I think once you have the second child, you go on a waiting list for a larger unit.

Ashley, I've never heard of the Navy paying for an upgrade move, but you'd have to ask housing. Usually they try for one bedroom per child, but that's not always available. My brothers shared a room in Navy housing, but that was in the Dark Ages.

Thanks Anti M. Like I said earlier, I haven't even gotten to speak ( call or letters ) from my husband yet, so he may know all this stuff and he just hasn't had the chance to let me in it. But anything you guys have is always appreciated.

Your sailor will be told everything about a PCS move, if you're near a base you can go to Family Services classes on it. If not, you can look it up on line.
The apartments tend to run the check on the military member, not the spouse. However your credit score can bring his down, so start working on bringing it up. It usually isn't a huge issue for military couples; I had no credit whatsoever after nine years in Japan. You will both be on the lease. There's plenty of rentals, just not always close to base. Commuting is a fact of life in California.

Well, he has good credit, it's just me.. lol.. Sugarbears girl-- he's in boot camp.. and he's in with a seal contract, so he will go to pre buds after bc. I want to be on base, but i know the housing list in san diego to live on base is a pretty long wait. so it looks as if we'll be staying off base. It doesn't matter to me that much, as long as he can come home to me at night, that's all I want :0)

So, when my husband gets his pcs orders, do they explain how the moving and everything works, because i've yet been told anything at all, by anyone. and mel, i've seen some housing out there ( off base ) and they all do credit checks, well my husband is the one with the credit, (mines poopy!) and I'm almost sure he wont be able to take care of finding a place to live. im terrified i cant find a place b\c of that.

Yea, I know it will be a hard life.. I thought I was ready for this, like emotionally, but I can tell by now that I wasn't. My husband and I have been together 8 years, and this is the first time I've been without him-- It's almost like culture shock to me. And then, all I have replaying in the back of my mind is that, we're not going to find housing out in San Diego ( my husband has a seal contract ) So I'm terrified that's going to further delay us living together again. God, this brings tears to my eyes just typing this. I want him so bad!
