I'm a Navy Wife and I created this group back when I was a girlfriend and my now husband had gone to bootcamp. Its funny because i joined this website when they had under 50 members. This website has been sooooo helpful and I met so many people on here that gave great advice. I made this group so that we could all come together and give eachother advice and share ideas. I see that this group is growing more and more by the day, Im happy to see that because so many wives/fiances/and girlfriends are clueless when it comes the military lifestyle. Not knowing what to expect and not knowing about deployments, bootcamp, duty stations, etc. I want this to be the place you all recommend because so many people on this site are knowledgeable and very helpful. Once again thanks for joining my group and i hope you get all the information you need. I dont get to log on as much as i used to but i try my best to get on here. So if u have any questions feel free to make a discussion topic and Im positive that it will get answered if not, inbox me :-) Take Care ♥

Princess.. my husband just left on march 16 and my best advice is to just cherish every moment. it isn't easy. i won't lie. if you spend all your time together it will be lonely, but you've found a good place to get tons of support. i've only been on here for a few days and already i feel like it's home. there are so many people who are going through the same thing. we're all here to listen and give you strength. start looking into stuff early. such as where his A school will be and whether or not you'll be allowed to go with him. my husband and i are STILL trying to find a definite answer to our housing after he graduates BC. what program is your bf going into? my hubby is going into nuclear engineering and will have A school for 20 months in Charleston, SC so i will be able to move with him for his A school. some A schools aren't nearly as long though so that may keep you from being able to go with him right away. just cherish your time together and take lots of pics together so you can have them when he leaves. my husband gave me a stuffed dinosaur that he's had since he was 4. i sleep with it every night. it's silly but it's all about comfort. if you ever need to talk, i'm here! =)

As retired Nay, we're on Tricare Prime and either go to base or have to get referrals for everything except the ER. Costs practically nothing. Standard has more out of pocket expenses, but works better if you're not near base or are very busy or have small kids.
Comment by Amanduh on March 25, 2010 at 10:36am
does anyone know the tricare phone number? i don't see in on their site anywhere.
Comment by AF Airman on March 24, 2010 at 11:04pm
Chelsea- hang in there it all depends how long processing takes and they dont usually get to write till the second sunday they're in there then its just a couple of days after that depending on how long mail takes to get to you.
Rebecky- I def understand where your coming from im sure everybody on here does lol im more focused on when ima get to see my bf more than anythng else. Whenever my cousin tries to make future plans im always like uhhh i gotta see where justin(my bf) is gonna be and what hes going to be doing and if im going to be visiting or not and i can tell she gets really frustrated with me. Like she invited me to the beach the other day and i was like yea sure whenever Justin comes back we can go and she was like uhhh does he have to go. YEAH!!!! gosh easy for her to be like that cause she sees her bf almost everyday. I usually just stay quiet though im beggining to understand that nobody(outside of N4M) understands me.
Comment by Amanduh on March 24, 2010 at 10:58pm
that is exactly what im going through! I've always had tricare, just under my dads name, and this is my first appt that will be under my husbands name. it probably would have been easier to just pretend i was still my dads dependent..although thats probably illegal. so you think i have to call tricare and have them approve it?
Comment by Amanduh on March 24, 2010 at 10:48pm
haha ok i'll do it. i'm going to sound like a complete idiot but whatever lol. also i am NOT going to a base facility for my doctors appt. i am going to the same doctor i've always had (they accept tricare) the nearest navy base is like 80 miles from my house. anyone think there will be any problems with tricare not covering my appt for this reason?
Comment by Amanduh on March 24, 2010 at 10:38pm
Anyone know how I can find out whether I have tricare prime or standard? Hubby doesn't remember which he signed me up for and I have a doctors appt coming up. I would just call tricare but I have no clue what i'd say to them..lol.
Comment by Rebecky32 on March 24, 2010 at 10:38pm
you can visit them but they still have a lot of restrictions like not being able to leave base and no overnight leave. that's at least how it is for nukes.
Comment by Chelsea-NAVYWIFE on March 24, 2010 at 10:30pm
Can anyone tell me when i should get the first letter from my boyfriend while he is at boot camp? he has been there 15days now...
Comment by Cassandra Rose on March 24, 2010 at 10:29pm
How does it work when they're in the first phase of A school... can you not visit them?
