While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Navywife... they aren't suppose to get married PIR weekend, although I have heard some do. Look up the county information on marriage licenses and such, in Illinois you have to have the license 24 hours before you can marry, and the county clerk doesn't work weekends. I don't know if they waive the 24 hours for active duty or not.
You can hug and kiss him right after PIR, don't get make up on his uniform. When on liberty, he may escort you on his left arm, leaving the right arm, free for saluting. Do NOT hang on him, and there is no PDA allowed. Don't think because you go off base you're "safe", there are chiefs and POs everywhere. Even retirees will say something!

Does anybody know if you can get married PIR weekend? Any info will be helpful.also what is allowed at PIR as to hugs and kisses I don't want to do anything to get my fiance in trouble.

Each school has a different radius, they change it around sometimes... 300 for some, 150 for others. They can request to go without buddies if family checks them out for their liberty, and that used to be okay for GFs too. But the rules change so what was true even a week ago needs to be double checked by the sailor.

Hi everyone, I am new to this entire website. My husband's PIR 12March 10 and he has only been gone a week and a half and I hate not hearing from him? I just sent out letters to him wednesday. How long before I should expect a letter or better yet..hope for a phone call? I don't know how you gals do this!

Navywife<3 I know my fiance hasn't been deployed yet but my brother was deployed to Iraq and we had just lost our little brother he took his life a few months before and now my only sibling was going over there. It was hard but it was family and friends that helped us. Its only natural to be worried but keep busy and what helps keep a journal of what you do how you feel and send it to him. I hope you are blessed that he can call often my brother was able too so it helped . Do you know how long he will be gone ?

I got two letters yesterday!!! It was so exciting to get them. Poor boy thinks I've forgotten all about him, as if that could honestly happen. He hasn't gotten any of my letters yet unfortunately.I hope they give him the letters soon!!!
