Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Hey RodWifey! My hubby eft 10/28 with PIR 12/30...so we're not that far apart! Hang in there...you should get a letter soon and maybe even a phone call? I am still waiting for my phone call :( I try to stay positive and pray everyday that we make it through! Be sure you write him often and only send encouraging letters = ) they will help him through each day! If u need anything feel free to msg me privately-even if its just to VENT, b/c we all know there are good days and BAD days LOL

Enlisted sailors may wear their dress blues as formal wear all year.

Mess Dress is usually worn by officers and/or chief petty officers at black tie affairs, it is a very special uniform. It is a formal jacket with trousers and a white shirt and a cummerbund. Very much like a military tuxedo, and very expensive. For junior enlisted men, the dress blues (crackerjacks) with medals and ribbons is what they would wear to a wedding.

If you know his division number, you can look up his grad date. The boot camp discussion forums will get you an answer.
As for liberty, they don't get overnight privileges. some honor recruits do, but that's unusual. They must wear their uniform in public and obey the rules... they can escort you on their left arm so their right is free for saluting. No hand holding! A big hug and kiss after PIR is expected, don't worry! Look through the bootcamp forums and you will find discussions on PDA and liberty. There's a lot of moms and wives and GFs with good advice there.

The worst part of grad and go is you can't really tell until late into basic training, when plans have been set. Basically, if their rate has them training in Pensacola, Goose Creek (nuke), or San Diego, there's a good chance they will leave soon after PIR. But not necessarily, some technical rates who go to P-cola take a basic electronics course in Great Lakes first. Some Great Lakes trainees go to the NTC side of the base and check in, then they get their liberty; they are grad and go but aren't going anywhere except away from boot camp! This all makes it very hard to plan efficiently, is very confusing, and hard to accept when your sailor's orders don't allow for much of a visit.
I know the grad and go information is a bummer, but f you know about it beforehand, you can try and keep your plans flexible and options open. Yeah, riiight. But it still hurts. Here's to planning for the worst and hoping for the best!

A school in Pensacola stands a good chance of being a grad and go. I hope you do get to spend some time with him! That five weeks may be a little longer, there have been holds and sometimes there's classes beforehand depending on the rate. Hang in there, sounds like you're flexible enough to go with the ups and downs of the Navy!

I totally understand! I keep hoping for a phone call...he just got into his third week of training so, he should be allowed a phone call soon-that is IF his Div doesn't lose the priviledge :(
