Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Mary, I don't drive and I got by. The Navy tried to teach me while I was active duty, but I hit things. A lot. Does the fast attack have a wives club? You should know who the ombudsman is and who the wives are. I'm sure a few would be able to help you get to appointments and grocery shopping if you don't have close friends or family in the area.
what do you want to do at home? Work? Keep busy? I don't work now, and we've agreed that my main job is running the house and making art, and sewing. the art is another long story... but find what excites you, and make it into something you can do daily.

Try shakes or supplement drinks like Boost or Ensure. Your body need nutrition, so find what will work for you. If fruit is what works, then that's what you need. Take care of yourself, listen to your body. This is a difficult time for you, but don't let it tear you down. You can do this, the ladies here have wonderful ideas and advice.

At some bases, for single E-4 and below, they must live in the barracks unless it is full. Then, beginning with the more senior E-4s, they can request to live off base. Even if they choose to share an apartment with a friend, they don't receive BAH and must maintain an inspection ready barracks room.
Married is different, although I think if they're below a certain rank, the must request to live ashore. School commands are always stricter.

Officer wives and enlisted wives don't mix all that much, it doesn't matter. You'd be surprised how many conservative looking older women have tattoos where the sun don't shine.

LOL, my dad didn't want me to marry the second time around as my first hubby had been a real jerk.
I was 30 years old! A parent is always a parent! At least me folks never screamed at me, we were a polite family. If we don't talk about it, it doesn't exist.
Smoke, pierce your ear, that will be just fine. You're a civilian, you can have as many piercings as you like. No one cares that much, what is expected of military spouses is to support their sailor, to stay out of debt, maintain a clean home and care for kids if there are any, and not run around on him while he's gone.

A few color envelopes won't matter, don't worry. The reason plain white is better is that they draw less attention. That's what a recruit wants, less attention, to fly under the radar. Less chance of getting yelled at or singled out.

I have a lot of college under my belt, two BS degrees, and a ton of other credits not related to my majors. Came from trying to finish a degree while moving. A college degree is worthwhile in itself if you are interested in what you study. Just to get a job? That's not happy or healthy. As has been said, you must find the balance between something you love and something which can help you in the long run.
My "extraneous" classes? I'm glad of every one of them, sometimes knowledge is greater than a piece of paper or a profession. I'd go back to school in a heartbeat for more art classes if I had the money. Yes, that's the one consideration, cash. My point is, don't stick with something you hate, find a career you love, but do not regret learning for learning's sake.

Sometimes the sailor-girls are only interested in guys who have girls friends, I don't know, they like the challenge or something. I know my husband got all kinds of offers once they know he was "off the market". I was a sailor too, so I know how it is when guys are away, they just let things happen. As for texting you and being mean, just tell him he shouldn't support her bad behavior, ask him to please support you.
Yes, this is the hard part. I worry that she'll work on him only to throw him away later. Best of luck to you, hang in there!
