Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Hi everyone My girlfriend is due to PIR next week. I'm in the Army stationed in Germany and I am hoping to take leave the same time she takes leave after A school. Does anyone know if there is a wait to class up for A-PACT Sailors in Pensacola. If there is a wait or hold due to Sailors waiting for a spot in class how long is the wait?
I haven't seen her in a long time and I am planning on asking for her hand in marriage. I have to request my leave by Wednesday and any help in scheduling so I can see my EVERYTHING would be greatly appreciated

@navywife95 ....It is true the detailers try not to send the married junior sailors overseas. It is also true that you can't accompany him is he does get overseas orders. But try not to stress about it too much at this point. It is a possibility, not a probability.
Because he is a seabee, he won't have the same options as the rest of the fleet. Any unit he is assigned to will deploy, but they tend to go to places and build stuff, not to missions at sea. Best thing to do right now is research where the seabee detachments are in the US, so he knows what to put on his dream sheet (CA or MS, or VA).

As for being an E-1, he won't stay that for long. If e does well in boot camp, he can be advanced, so let's hope that happens!

We were worried about the same thing, but here's what my husband was told. He said the detailer knows if a sailor has a spouse or dependents. They don't tend to give overseas orders to those sailors because of that. There are plenty of other unmarried sailors they can send. Believe it or not, the navy does want sailors to be happy. A happy sailor is a more productive sailor, and the detailer will assume that your husband will be happier with orders that include his wife and kid. Plus it's more expensive to both send him overseas and keep you here with BAH. He says it's not impossible, but not very likely to get overseas orders. Hope that helps!

What is your husband's rate? Some rates get deployed more than others. There's always a chance that they can but I think it's more unusual for a sailor's first duty station. My husband said that most guys don't get sent overseas unless they are top of their class (it's a special privilege I guess), but that could just be for his rate. Unfortunately no you won't be able to go overseas with him :( You won't be able to get overseas with him until he is an E-4. Good luck hun!

So I just wanted to update a bit.. Called Red Cross and gave them the information. Hoping to have my husband home this weekend for the funeral. Just waiting to see if it gets approved. I also have a new question.. My husband graduates A school in less than 3 weeks. He haven't received his orders yet but he talked to his petty officer and he's saying they've been giving out a lot of overseas orders. So my husband and I are very worried. We have a 1 year old son together. My husband is also e1. So is there a possibility of him being stationed overseas?? I believe if there is, we can't go with him correct? I'm just hoping he don't get sent overseas..

They do get stationary and stamps, etc at boot camp.

Hey everyone! I am still eagerly awaiting my boyfriends box and form letter. I was wondering if I need to send him envelopes, paper, and stamps or if they are issued that to be able to write letters. I have my first letter all ready send and I want to make sure he has what he needs to write back.
