I'm a Navy Wife and I created this group back when I was a girlfriend and my now husband had gone to bootcamp. Its funny because i joined this website when they had under 50 members. This website has been sooooo helpful and I met so many people on here that gave great advice. I made this group so that we could all come together and give eachother advice and share ideas. I see that this group is growing more and more by the day, Im happy to see that because so many wives/fiances/and girlfriends are clueless when it comes the military lifestyle. Not knowing what to expect and not knowing about deployments, bootcamp, duty stations, etc. I want this to be the place you all recommend because so many people on this site are knowledgeable and very helpful. Once again thanks for joining my group and i hope you get all the information you need. I dont get to log on as much as i used to but i try my best to get on here. So if u have any questions feel free to make a discussion topic and Im positive that it will get answered if not, inbox me :-) Take Care ♥

no worries i don't think that you were trying to be mean. I take what people say into consideration .. everyones situation can be different .. i wrote to my SR and have let him know what i am being told ... if we can figure something out than we will as long as he is not getting in trouble and it is okay with them.. i appreciate listening to other people's experiences ..and depending on what we are told or what we can do i will just make sure to come back and let others know what i went through. I appreciate your information, i actually am not trying to move to great lakes i am waiting for him to finish A school to move to wherever his base may be... i simply just want to marry my SR and wanted to know if it is possible that weekend ... if not i will wait for him to come back to Floirda and do it how we had originally planned. :)

Rtrgirl- yay!!!!!! Good for you!

No one's trying to be mean. We just want to make sure you know everything we do. That's why you posted on the site, to get info. You can go ahead and do what you want, and hopefully everything will be okay. But if you end up being the random couple where the enlisted person gets captain's mast or 45/45 or even just lots of extra time in phase 1, or having it put on their hard card and having it follow them thriugh their carreer, because the TSC is tired of people not taking the rules seriously- we would feel bad for not warning you. I posted on here about my move to great lakes and got negative answers, because the rules and the truth was a negative. I made my own decision, but appreciate people's honesty. Also, I just left great lakes, so this is me offering you my information from being where you're headed. Also, you will learn that the only person who can predict or decide if your husband will get in trouble is the person he has to answer to, the people directly above him, and random officers or higher ups. TSC is a tricky place. Good luck.

i am very well aware that he belongs to the navy i was aware of it once he enlisted... i have read lots of information and my soon to be mother in law knows ALOT in which she has helped me with as well... i dont think you understood what i meant by "his" weekend. I will figure it out and once whatever gets done i will post on current information for who ever else needs help with this later on :) thanks !

They're right. RTC told my husband he could live with us if we moved there. So we moved to great lakes and TSC said no. So we lived in great lakes for 5 months and he wasn't allowed to actually live with us. TSC is not a fun place to end up in trouble.
Comment by Anti M on November 3, 2013 at 4:47pm

It is not "his" weekend.  It is the Navy's weekend.  You have to realize this will be true for his entire enlistment.

Angie is 100% correct, RTC is not going to be responsible for him once he checks into A school. Completely different chain of command over at TSC. Of course they tell him in RTC he can go get married.  They don't care. Not their problem.  TSC cares though, and can bust him for disobeying the rules.  I suggest you call TSC Public Affairs and ask them.

oh and his A school is in great lakes so we don't have to worry about time ... he gets liberty from 7am to 8pm depending on the days and sometimes they duty during liberty so after duty we can meet with SRs

thanks for the information/advice on marriage.  I called the court house already and you do not have to wait 24 hrs it can be the next morning and the judge makes exceptions for same day marriages under certain circumstances ... and they are open on weekends for a certain amount of hours .. and my SR actually asked if he was permitted to do it the weekend of PIR and he was told that he was.  I am not rushing to get  married for no specific reason either.  i am aware that i can leave with him later on im not in for moving, benefits, etc  He just wants to do it since its been in our plans for a while and he simply just doesn't want to wait any longer ..  so ill do whatever it is he wants ... its his weekend :)

lol!! HR needs more public transportation that's for sure! lol I love driving but every day I get home from work feeling like I just fought for my life. lol Considering I work with kids with special needs for hours to say the hardest part of my day is the drive home is crazy!! lol

I know how you feel, my husband calls me a hooligan and hides his keys when he goes on workups/deployment. :) But DC is another animal ENTIRELY. Also we've been in HR area since December and it has its own brand of chaos. They LOVE to run some red lights around here. You guys are always welcome to ask DC questions of me if you want. I'm probably not the only DMV girl around but 15 years of pain has to have earned me the semi-expert badge. :D
