For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

This may be a dumb question but when our son and I are moved to my husband's area, will the Navy pay to ship my car? And will we have to pay for our plane ticket to the new area? This will be our first move. I'm sure we will be told all this information soon but I was just curious. Thanks!

Megs, it has been a long time since I looked at hard copy orders. Can you find the orders number? If you have that, you can call the personal property office and get things rolling. Call the one for the base he is at, not the one he is reporting to.

Congrats Megs2447 we are there too. We just got housing took 3 months but we got what we wanted and waited. Go your before you have your husband sign. We did that. Found out some places that are right next to base take just as long to get to base as the place we got at fort story as traffic is horrible in some places. I love Virginia beach area so did our 3 year old with the beach her first time there and loved the ocean. A good help also is a Facebook page Virginia navy parents and loved ones. Super group helped me out a lot being the spouse and been so very supportive. Very tight navy family in Norfolk oh last thing the Nex is freaking huge two stories and you will get lost I did lol. Good luck ever need anything help or a ear. Can never have enough friends I am new here too

Well, as it turns out, these were hard orders. But, it no longer matters! HAHAHA I have heard of Diego Garcia, Anti M, and hopefully that's not on the radar either!

Orders get cancelled all the time, which is why verbal or soft orders cannot be relied on 100%.
I am glad it is working out for you.
LOL, of course I won't say anything about Bahrain. What would you like to know about Diego Garcia?
