Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

FSA is the Family Separation Allowance. BAS is basic allowance for sustenance. BAS is given when a sailor lives off base and has meals at home instead of being fed by the government. But is is not intended for dependents, so goes away when the sailor deploys (or is in training).

Micheal then you should be good to go...the power of attorney give the authorization to sign any documents dealing with business including banking. So you can go into your bank or his and tell them that your spouse is in boot camp and you have power of attorney and you need to get into his acct. you shouldn't have any problems

I have two power of attorneys one from the military and one with our state. I made sure I was covered. I just was not sure why my name was also not on the account. Not sure if he knew or if he could not put my name on it

Good morning!
We've been with NFCU for decades, since the 70s. Michael, if he did not put your name on the account, NavyFed will be a bitch about it if you do not have a POA. But if he gets the account info to you, including the online access number and password, you can just do online banking easily enough.
During boot camp, there is a lump sum BAH payment initially, but once the pay settles out, it should show half in each check. FSA is for any time the Navy separates a sailor from their families for more than 30 days, whether training or deployment. BAS is only when they live with their families and do not eat in a galley, so don't plan on grocery money when they are in bot camp or deployed. BAS and FSA are like flip sides of a coin.
Base housing is not always on base. In some cases, yes, but when you get to place like San Diego, it is all privatized neighborhoods. Some are a hefty commute away. If BAH is being used for privatized housing, it looks like they take it all at once, but if you are receiving the full amount to pay for a private rental, you have to budget ahead.

Micheal you guys have to have done a power of attorney before he left. And with our bank not sure about every bank you have to have a joint accounts meaning being on each other accounts but that with our cu. and your welcome every recruiter says something different I only know because that's exactly what was given to us on payday. They also told the recruites in basic because my husband wrote me about it.

You're welcome! Unfortunately I don't know the answer to the question about bank accounts - my husband used our existing bank account. We opened a Navy Fed account after he was out of boot camp. I'm sorry, but I'm sure someone here will be able to answer that for you
