While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

They can call far more often at A school, but not during school hours or extra study, nor while on watch. But they do get busy. Keep the cards and letters going, there's something about snail mail that's very personal to receive... something about holding it in your hands and knowing your sweetie touched it too.

One day at a time, ET3, one day at a time. There's not much advice anyone can give that you don't already know. So I'll just say good luck with the house, the move, and school ... you can do this!
Soooo... is your ET3 working on his surface warfare quals? Because then he'd be an ET3 (SW) and you'd be ET3SWSWIFEY777!

Yes, ET3SWifey... I can imagine you've learned tons in a short time! I feel a little odd here sometimes because I'm so much older and at the other end of the experience, but I truly want to be of help.
As for deployments, just when you think you have the schedule figured out, they change it. Best thing you can learn is to be flexible and patient, and to develop a great sense of humor. Because if you can't laugh about the weird way the Navy works at times, all you can do is cry.
And then there's isolated duty, which means the far end of nowhere without the family. I was single when I was sent to Diego Garcia, but that's only for a year. It could be worse! My poor brother was in the Air Force, has a wife and eight kids, and they stationed him in Korea for 12 months without them. That was awful for him and his wife and kids.

Chelsea, your sailor needs to talk to his chief ASAP... his command can lean on the personnel office if need be. If his chain of command cannot help, his Command Master Chief certainly can.
Ladies, I know what you're experiencing ... we were both active duty when we married, he was on a ship out of Sasebo and I was up north in Yokosuka in Japan. He couldn't leave the ship to come see me and I didn't have a place to stay or couldn't get leave to go see him. We saw each other a total of 28 DAYS in two years. Before the internet, and calling was usually impossible since he was often deployed. We made it through. The moral of the story is no matter how bad you have it, someone else has it worse. I think you're all doing very well, and I'm proud to see the sailors have such wonderful support and love in their lives.

If he is on a deployed ship there are long periods of time when communications are not possible... many reasons like no signal in their area, or the gear is down, or they're running silent with comms off, or he can't get time on the shared computers. Very common. Don't worry, it's the Navy, not you.
If you send an email now, it might sit until the comms are up again. Be patient.

Ah, Britani, hang on. Take a long slow breath and try to relax.
Hey, sometimes our sailors forget how much communication means to the ones back at home. They get rushed or busy, maybe they're in a bad mood or have a headache ... you just never know. This is when the trust and love has to kick in, the knowledge that the two of you will be fine, even if today hurts.
Don't nag the guys, but when you do get that call or letter, thank them for it, for keeping you in their heart and on their mind.
