Hey can anyone tell me how long I supposed to wait to add myself on my husband's insurance, his recruiter told me, but I forgot. He made it to basic yesterday.
Yes, 5 days. She can borrow enough to fill out the holiday stand down, but would be at a zero or negative balance until she earns the days back. Depending on how long her A school is, she might have to go directly to her next command when she is done.
However, it is one of the few times she would be guaranteed to get Christmas off. That is important too.
Oops, January 5th, not 4th... but still, the 4th is a Sunday, may be a good day to return anyway.
@gbfuturewife ... do you know where she is going to A school? They do have a Christmas stand down when they have the opportunity to take leave and come home. While most of them have not earned the full amount, they can borrow leave days (up to ten, usually). Do consider if they want to save a few leave days for after A school. They earn 2.5 days each month, so you can get a rough idea of how many leave days she has, and how many she may have after school.
The stand down dates for Great Lakes are Dec 19 to Jan 4. These MIGHT be the dates for other training commands, but I have seen nothing official. The students graduating the 12th will report to their schools and if they can take leave, they would do it from there. Don't know if any would be held at Great Lakes, don;t think so, but be sure your know YOUR sailor's situation specifically. They do pay for their own travel to home. Do not book anything for them until you know their leave dates. Do not book flight from Chicago area before ten~non, as there will be a lot of students to check out and get to the airport. They will be briefed on all this.
My boyfriend who left for BC on Nov 6th got to call me yesterday!! He and his brother knew the answer to a challenge question and split the call time to be able to call me and their mom. I'm severely missing him, and yesterday was one of the rougher days. I screamed when I saw IL on the caller ID, and the feeling of happiness I've felt ever since in indescribable <3 I'm still so jittery with happiness after hearing his voice!!! He's doing great and loves it! He's even on the rifle team and gets to perform at 3 of the graduations! He's such an incredible man and I'm so proud of him <3 Best Veteran's Day ever :)
Scottsmom, if you read the site guidelines, you are not supposed to post anything for sale, except on your own page/blog. Not in the groups or forums.
I have created some great journal pages to memorialize our memories and feelings while our SR's are/were in boot camp.
I hope you like the latest one:

My fiancé's PIR date is 11/26 and the last 22 days are going to go by SO slowly.
Any tips on doing the whole PIR thing from those of you who've gone before? I'll be making the trip alone and planning all of it on top of the stresses of school and him being gone is about to drive me up the wall! Last thing I need to book is a rental car (Ugh, $$$)
