I'm a Navy Wife and I created this group back when I was a girlfriend and my now husband had gone to bootcamp. Its funny because i joined this website when they had under 50 members. This website has been sooooo helpful and I met so many people on here that gave great advice. I made this group so that we could all come together and give eachother advice and share ideas. I see that this group is growing more and more by the day, Im happy to see that because so many wives/fiances/and girlfriends are clueless when it comes the military lifestyle. Not knowing what to expect and not knowing about deployments, bootcamp, duty stations, etc. I want this to be the place you all recommend because so many people on this site are knowledgeable and very helpful. Once again thanks for joining my group and i hope you get all the information you need. I dont get to log on as much as i used to but i try my best to get on here. So if u have any questions feel free to make a discussion topic and Im positive that it will get answered if not, inbox me :-) Take Care ♥

Thank you so much ladies, you were all so very helpful. I am going to try and do new things, to keep my mind distracted. You're all so strong, definitely an inspiration. Again, thank you so much for your helpful words.

Sonia,

My husband is in boot camp right now too. The first week was really hard for me. I was a complete wreck and that is okay. I won't say that it will get better or easier as time goes on but you do get a little more used to it. You will have your rough days and days that you will feel down but you will also have good days especially when PIR ends up being right around the corner :)! This site is really helpful and the people on here are amazing. I also disagree about counting down the days... that's what helped keep me stay positive! Its a great feeling when it goes from 40 days to 30 and then suddenly its only 2 weeks away. Just stay try to stay busy and be with your friends and family. I write my SR everyday it helped me and it helps them too... they love receiving mail! Remember that this is only a small hurdle we have to get over and its worth it :)

Hey Sonia,

It's totally ok to miss your man and totally ok to be a wreck girl.  Even though there will be deployments, you don't need nor do you want to hear that from anyone even though it could be true.  I want to encourage you to know that I felt exactly how you feel and I didn't want to tell anyone, but thank God I told my best friends.  This is a very helpful site for all of us SO's here, but know your friends will help you get through this.  I counted the days and it was so amazing so I also don't agree that they are hard.  Start going on pinterest to find that special outfit, go on lunch dates with friends, sleep overs help also, having a job helps A TON, and if  you have a pup, go on walks.  I know how hard it can be and I encourage many women on my blog http://anchoredbychrist.com if you EVER want to check it out.  If you want to chat, DM me girl cause you need girlfriends to rally and be your cheerleader during this time.

P.S.

Also have a FB page facebook.com/anchoredbychrist

Hope my words encouraged you girl and know you are NOT alone :)

Liz

@sonia- I'm not going to lie. The first couple weeks are the hardest. I don't agree that counting the days make it harder. For me, it helped! Just focus on yourself and things you like to do. When you surround yourself with family and friends, it helps a ton! I picked up more shifts at work and even got another job for the weekends that I enjoyed! Write plenty of letters for him! I would send my sailor a letter or two everyday, just because it helped me cope. I also found it therapeutic! Don't worry, it will get better in time! Of course it's a struggle in the beginning but you get used to it. I hope I helped and things get better! Just remember it's all worth it in the end!

Keeping all our East Coast Navy family in my thoughts.  I know the hurricane will probably pass with little trouble, but I know there's a lot of disrupted plans this weekend.  Hugs for those who are feeling the effects of the storm on Naval vessels, their crews and families.
