Sorry but I don't think they take formal pictures for A school. My daughter just had a friend take some pics for me.

Good thing we didn't order the cupcakes....we were surprised yesterday by our sailor. Graduated A School but we didn't have a date when he would be home on leave. We were shocked when he walked in...what a great feeling. He looks great and happy to be home for now. Tears of Joy!!!! We've missed him so much.

Good evening.....I was hoping to get some better information on my childs status. I am almost embarresed to say, but my son is not very helpful. My questions are as follows: Charles graduated from Boot Camp in Great Lakes on June 11th. He started A school on June 14th. His rating is GSM. He told me that his graduation date from A school would be August 27th. That would make it about 10 weeks and five days of A school. My questions: (1) Those 10 plus weeks I assume, were common core class? And if so...(2) What about his strand for GSM?....(3) would that class follow right away in great Lakes?....(4) Could he get stuck in 'hold-over"..? ...and if so
(5) would he be able to go home on leave to Texas during hold-over?.......The reason I am so concerned about all this is, I have to fly home to Germany the end of August due to a serious illness in the family. I need to go for about two weeks. Since I am not sure what Charles' situation will be, I am reluctand to schedule my flight, because I don't want to miss the opportunity to be here incase my son gets to come home on leave in between schools or before reporting into his permanent duty assignment......can you help me? Thank you ............

A school is not a biggy like PIR, don't feel guilty. They just get a certificate and a handshake. If family shows up they may have a longer ceremony but most parents don't go cause sailors get leave to come home after A school and/or before being on a ship.

My sailor graduated from A school yesterday. But she will be on hold in GL until she gets orders for C school. The sailors often go into Chicago when they have liberty, it is a big city, lots to explore there. They also go to the Lake shore. The base is having a big 4th of July celebration next weekend, plenty of things for them to do.
Yes, she got 3 day weekends often just depends if they have duty or not.

Just received a phone call from Brent this evening. He just got his orders. He will also be a "Grad-N-Go" from A-School to his base. He is to be stationed at Mayport Naval Station, in Jacksonville, FL.
