What privileges do the sailors have for the 4th of July?

Morning. I was wondering how I confirm the address at A school and if I can have a laptop shipped there? Has anyone shipped something like that?

Is there a list of items they can/can't have at A school? My SR is graduating on 4/7 and we will be there until Sunday night. Can we go shopping and bring stuff on base? Are there mini fridges?I'm sure he'll know more once he go to indoc after graduation.

LisaZski, he is going to be a GM. There is another GM there that had to wait 4 months before space opened for him. I just hope I get an address soon so I can start sending him care packages.

My son's PIR was March 18, 2016, he is FC and will be finally finishing up A school in a few weeks.   It can take some time to class up.

NavyMom, my Son also just graduated 1/13, and is also staying in GL, and is on a three month hold as well, I guess it's common anymore with schools being full.

Hi Navymom2017,
Do you mind if I ask what training your Sailor is scheduled for? Mine doesn't have PIR until 3/3 but is slated to go to A school at GL.

Hi Navymom2017,
Sorry your Sailor is on hold. Mine was on hold for a little while before A school and after before he was sent to Norfolk. He will be okay - I'm sure a lot of his buddies from boot camp are in the same boat and will be on hold right along with him. My Sailor didn't mind it there so much because it's way better than boot camp and there is a lot for them to do - see my comment to BoiseMom. Hang in there moms and continue to be proud. They'll be fine

Hi Boise mom,
The WiFi is bad at GL so I wouldn't have him pay for it. There is free WiFi on base in a few locations. It's a nice base and there is a lot for them to do right there - bowling, movie theater, different places to eat and even a McDonalds. They don't have a lot of storage though and still have inspections and have to keep everything clean. A handheld game would be his best bet. Hope this helps

My sailor just had PIR 1/13/17. He is going to do A school in GL. But... He found out he is on hold for 3 months or so because it's full at the moment. He was supposed to be in A for 3 months but now it's going to be probably more like 6+ months. It was so hard to leave him knowing it's gonna be so long. But he's a navy man now. As his mom I have to get used to it and that he is all grown up. It's easier said than done though lol.
