OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Follow this link for OPSEC Guidelines:

Just found this group though I've been a member of N4M for awhile. My son was first at GL five years ago. Now two deployments later (one on the Roosevelt and one in Afghanistan), he's going to be an instructor at GL. He just moved into an apartment in Zion.

I've stayed at Navy Lodge at Little Creek near Norfolk, Virginia and love it! Around GL, we've stayed in several places. There's a hotel with suites on Town Line Road south of the base. We just stayed at a Days Inn (nothing fancy, but cheap at $55 including tax) on Lewis Rd. in Waukegan north of the base. Easy drive.

I don't know if new Sailors are able to take leave at Christmas or not. They earn 2.5 days a leave a month so newer sailors would not have that much leave available. Also the base never shuts down, they may not be in class during those dates but not everyone will get leave approved.

Hi all, our son has been in GL since February and is due to graduate A school sometime in November (?)

Angela - the 12th of Dec. graduation that you are wondering about...what school is it?
