Hello,
I'm new to the group. My son will be leaving for Hawaii soon. He will be on the USS Texas.
Just what he wanted since he's from Texas, ha!

My son's been in Hawaii for 6 years, the first three at Pearl Harbor, and the last three at Kaneohe. We're heading out there in a few weeks for his graduation from HPU.
So there is more than one base. I was wondering about that.
Hi Marlene - You should change your" New" Discussion to" USS Texas" as I don't think one has been started yet. Mine is on the Texas too. I am so glad we are friends. We will have a lot to say later, when we find out what the he-- is going on. I already have the name of a good hotel if we can't stay in the Navy Lodge and I am already planning a trip. Maybe we should get together on that one so we only have to get one room and I'll use my son's car for us to cat around in. LOL Yee Haa!!!!
Okay, so I changed my Discussion to USS Texas. I guess we'll see what happens. Ha. I am glad we are friends too!! We should totally go together to Hawaii! The longest flight I've ever taken is 3 1/2 hours, so I'm kinda nervous about a longer flight, but I'm determined to do it. HA!
Welcome and Aloha.....I like the idea of creating a new group for your ship...but does one exist already on Navyformoms website? Not sure, but still neat idea to start your own!
Thanks for the welcome! I changed the discussion name, ha. We should start one of our own, but I'm so clueless to all of this, I'm afraid to start it, ha!
Oh Marlene - Cool! Now all the moms that have sons on the USS Texas SSN 775 in Pearl Harbor have a place to connect. Some of the guys are already there and some will be graduating as my son on May 29. He is ETNAV and I would love to hear which moms have sons on the boat and what their position's are.
Hi lynda n - so you are one of our go-to moms for information about Pearl Harbor - I am sure you have been there - tell us about it, please!!!! or will this be your first time there and by the way what is HPU?
We will probably be a close knit group of moms on this boat. Congrats to all our Sailors and may they get their dolphins soon. My son says he wants his because they are so important.
I am wondering how does one get his dolphins? Do you have to go out on a boat to get them?
What is the difference between the two bases in Hawaii?
My son is at Kaneohe too (K-Bay) it's the home of the runways and Navy Air Station at the Marine base. Mama Navy's fixed-wing Aircraft and some Helo squadrons operate and fly out of there. No ships.
Hi Storybook Mom - I thought I replied to you but it does not look like I did. I am glad you are blessing us with your Hawaii Naval Base History. There is so much we are going to have to learn.
My son is going to have his wisdom tooth removed right before he is coming home, after
he graduates on the 29th The Navy is going to make him real glad to leave Groton. LOL
Well my son left a couple of hours ago on his way to Hawaii. I love it when he's home, but it always stinks when he leaves. I was hoping I'd get used to it, but I guess not. Hopefully he'll be above ground for a while so we can still text each other and talk from time to time.
He's onto his next big adventure and what he's worked so hard for. I'm one proud mamma!!
Well - First I would like to wish all the MOM'S A Happy Mother's Day!
Marlene - They will be above the water at least until my son get's there in June!
We are staying home for Mother's Day. The restaurants will be crazy and so will the beaches and theme parks. My hubby is going to treat me to some of his grilling skills - we have some ribs and corn on the cob and will do some gardening in the yard and hope to ride bikes. I miss my son very much but in June he will be home for two weeks- the last time for a long while.. We will ride together to take his car to be shipped and then he is gone again - but he sounds so happy to finally be finished with all this school, and he is going to get a few weeks of rest at home. I hope he has put on a few pounds because the last time I hugged him he felt like a stick. I will help him with that when I see him. Ha HA
Our boys will all be together soon and I know we will stay in touch with each other on this link.
Hugs and Good wishes to all those who serve - remember the 17th of May is Armed Forces Day!
Put out your flags Ya'all!! Navy Hugs!!! I will post pictures soon!!!
