That's a great picture Michelle! Goodness yours and my sailor almost ended up on the the same ship!  Wouldn't that have been great? Looks cold over there, was the picture taken when his ship left for deployment? Homecoming should be warmer : ) I wish both those carriers were homeported here.  Ahhh, wishful thinking. I commend you for having adopted an additional sailor, that's a wonderful thing to do, Michelle.

Marcy, you're welcome. And I hope you've heard from your sailor by now? Hey, I could adopt yours like Michelle did her adoptee sailor. My husband and I would have him over for dinners and I'd get to act like a Mom! I'd be proud to help take care of a fellow Navy Mom's sailor.

I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was nice. Most of all I was grateful that the government is still there. And that our military get paid on time .. phew. That would have been bad form. And some are working on getting that changed I hear; that is welcome news.

Dorothee, thank you for the link. I looked at it and that is great with the change of command.

Pueo, I use to be on Twitter and I might have to join it again to see if I can get info on his ship.

Michelle, how exciting for you to plan to attend homecoming!! Was my big hope at the time, but couldn't make it. Tiger Cruise was another dream I had. Until I found out that male sailors can only sponsor male family/friends. Some of us Truman moms were going to try to make friends with some female soldiers that could sponsor us, haha.  And then Tiger Cruise was cancelled, they ran out of time.

I know you'll have a great visit homecoming time and I'll watch for videos and pictures from here.

Pueo - prayers for safe travels for your son all the way over there. How's Maui weather?  You guys got the flood watch first, before the rest of the state.  Not much rain here on the windward side yet, but I hear it's still coming.  Poss. thunder, even hail.  What next - locusts??

Marcy, I looked for news on the Port Royal - found this on the navy.mil website so think it's ok to mention. Nothing else that I could find.

I hope your son gets back in touch soon. We so look forward to any kind of communication, don't we. When my son was underway I carried my phone everywhere with me so I could get his emails..  He doesn't tell me much either so I go look for news myself. Then I tell him what I know : ) He says I know stuff before he does, tee hee. Definitely still new to all things Navy though, I'm learning, like you guys.

Good luck with Radiology Tech!  That's good plans you have.

Michelle, even though my son has been in for 4 yrs now, I still don't know that much about the Navy either, LOl. I don't know a whole lot about his ship either. My sailor is quiet and when you try to talk to him about the Navy he doesn't say much or tell me much about it. At least for now I can see Hawaii thru you guys' pages and here all about from you guys. I am planning on visiting but it won't be for a while. For I am in school for Radiology Tech and I start the program this coming fall, hopefully, and I have been taking all the non-radiology courses and trying to get at least the big ones out of the way, which I have done so far.

Yes Michelle I live in Pa. I know all of you are in Hawaii and my son is stationed there. I can't wait until I am out of school and come down and see him. His ship is not a big ship but I am sure it would be big to me if I saw it. We live in a small town called Kittanning. I actually live 10 minutes from there near a REALLY small town named Rural Valley. I came to this site to find out more about Hawaii and to get connected with people who had son/daughters in the navy in Hawaii. I did not know you all lived there but you guys welcomed me anyways and thank you for that. I follow the Japan site on here as well because I have a son in the Airforce stationed in Japan as well. He is north of all that happened and he is safe and sound. So I have 2 sons in the military. My one down there this is his 4th year and the other just graduated from bootcamp last October. A very proud mom I am too, as all of you are of your children in the military.

Michelle, sorry to hear all the troubles on your son's ship. I hope they are all okay and all is well with them as well. I will be thinking of you guys as well..

Dorothee, that sounds like fun to visit your son's ship and all. We drove past Norfolk when we going to Virginia beach last June but there were not any ships in port and didn't get to see them. I wanted to visit there but couldn't. Glad you had a great time. Any time spent with our sailors is a treasure.

Dorothee, love how you spell your name too, it is different and I always like the spelling of a name when it is spelled differently. My daughters middle name is Elisabeth and I wanted to spell it with and 'S" instead of a "Z". I would like it to be a little balmy her right now. We had 70 degree weather yesterday and now it is only in the high 30's today. Oh well you said it spring is on the way, it is coming slowly but surely.
