Michelle, that's so cool you saw your son at the rails!  I see you're very well connected, I just love that there are so many resources for the families. FRG is Family Readiness Group, not sure if Truman specific. We had to get our sailor to add us to the email list to get updates. Sounds like the Enterprise is keeping you all well updated! Prayers for swift and safe travels for all onboard. Truman will be around for a while now, maintenance and stuff. And - I'm planning to visit end of February and hope to get a tour, can't wait!!

Samswife, have you heard from your husband?  I understand they're having some severe winter weather over there. I bet he misses Hawaii and you especially. Not long to go!

Sorry!!!  I'm on this group and have not said a peep, way overdue. Samswife, I'm on Oahu too, Windward side.  My son joined in 2007 and I remember this - he said it was tough, but I noticed that he was also super proud and had forged strong bonds during that time. He grew. You'll have a wonderful time at PIR and after!  I bet you will feel so proud; bring Kleenex!

Michelle... my son is on USS Harry S Truman. They recently got back from where your son is now going.  Ask me anything.  I am on Truman N4M as well as followed their deployment very closely. Uhm, I have a "Truman wall", with pictures from all along their deployment, tee hee ;-)   We are so fortunate to be able to communicate with them via ship phone, email, get updates from FRG (are you on their list)?  I always enjoyed the Capt.'s updates and FRG newsletters.

Much Aloha to all of you :-)

Aloha Ladies,

Nice to see this group is still active.  My son PIR'd last April 2010.

He's now a Corpsman with the Marines stationed at Camp Pendleton CA .

Sam's wife, am on Oahu too. I'm more than happy to answer any questions or worries you might have.

Thanks Michelle and Pueo!  I am on the island of Oahu.  Yeah, we've been married for almost 8 years already, so this separation thing has been a big blow!  I'm staying strong though, and am blessed to have my family right here with me, encouraging me and keeping me busy!  I will be attending my husbands PIR and can't wait!

Hi All,

I'm not a mom, but my husband and I are both from Hawaii :D  He's in boot camp right now and his grad date is 3/4/11!!  I'm really counting down the days...the first week was really rough, but I'm getting stronger and feeling better everyday!  I see that there hasn't been much activity here recently, but it's still nice to have a place to hear from those from Hawaii!

Good Morning,
May I ask a question from you Hawaii Moms??
My son has been advised to look for an apartment or house (he's just landed at K-BAY) Any thoughts or advice about where to live, where NOT to live? Apartments? Condos? House? Cottage?
Craigs list is an option I guess....but any tips or hints would be much appreciated!
Thank you kind ladies!
