Dorthee, wouldn't he run out of gas? I know it is crazy. I know my hubby said the radio said Texas has been 39 days of temps over 100 degrees. It is probably 40 days now. I just turned off our air yesterday. I need some fresh air in the house. These air conditioners have been on for probably almost 2 months.

Doing well, thanks Marcy. Glad to hear the hot weather is easing up some and hope it stays that way. A Navy Mom from another group in Norfolk reported that her son slept in his airconditioned car one night as there was a power outage on the base and super hot temps even at night...

I got that from another mom on my Allmoms site. I thougth I would share it with you guys.

How are you Dorthee? I am good here. It is finally starting to cool off around here. So happy about that.

For the 31 Navy Seals who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the helo crash in Afghanistan. From the Blue Star Mothers Chaplain I come on my knees this day to beseech each and every member of our organization to stay in constant prayer for our beloved troops and their waiting families. This morning, in Afghanistan, Taliban insurgents shot down a United States Chinook helicopter, killing 31 of our precious children along with the 7 Afghans that were also aboard. Gracious God above, how long will this war go on and how many heroes will we loose! The Department of Defense has issued a statement -- yet no statement will ever bring these children back to their waiting mothers and other loved ones. Our hearts are broken! Please pray for these families ~ please pray for all of our families that are enduring this war from the front lines!! Please pray that the devastation and loss from the war will soon be over! People see us and they think our lives are as others -- but they are not. Each day we await our heroes, each day our stomachs burn, our throats are filled with lumps, and our eyes tear in a moment. Some days it is difficult just to get up, brush our teeth, and get our cloths on. Some days are impossible - like today. We are the families whose loved ones guard the world with commitment, dedication, and often the giving of their own lives. I shall pray for you throughout the day. I know each of our lives has been shattered by this horrific tragedy. PRAYERS FOR PEACE, IN TEARS, Rev. Lin McGee National Chaplain 31 lost, 31 unwanted visits, 31 doors receive that dreaded knock, 31 families with shattered hearts, 31 pairs of boots lined up with rifles and dog tags and helmets, 31 comrades remembered and grieved for, 31 funeral services, 31 names on newly made grave markers, 31 empty places at the table, 31 souls who gave all, whose lives leave a void, let's take 31 seconds to re-post this and pause to reflect on such a sacrifice as 31 gone forever... Thank you to ALL of "OUR" Service Men and Women! We hold each of them, their Moms and families, in our hearts

Oh yeah the weather has been crazy hot around here. It has been so humid. I can handle the heat but the humidity makes it worse. There were days you couldn't even let the kids go out and play. Oh well I think it is over. It has been raining all day here today in PA. We needed the steady rain that we have today for along long time. Our grass is getting greener by the minute. Was going to take my daughter swimming today but the rain took care of that. Oh well it is  going to be nice tomorrow. we will go then. My sisters dad has a huge pool and it is nice and he lets us come out and swim even if he is not there. It is 3ft in one end and 9 1/2 in the other end. Mia jumps off the diving board all the time. We have a lot of fun when we go.

Thanks for passing on the info re. the USS Boxer sailor. So sad when I saw that on the news : (

One good thing about deployments is all the new experiences they have. New places, friendships, learning experiences. Sounds like your Airman is good about staying in touch, that's worth a lot.

June or July are both good months..  August/September tend to be hot. Though probably not as hot as some of the weather the continental US has had lately. Getting a hot flash just thinking about that.

Dorthee, I am sorry, I forgot to finish what I wanted to say. So your son will be in Norfolk then? Yes I do miss them very much. My Airman should be to his destination by now. I hope he made it okay. He did update us once he got to Germany and Italy so I know he is okay for now.

Dorthee, I am really hoping I will be able to meet you guys when I come down. It looks like we will be coming. Is June or July better to come? I have to see about my clinicals when the time comes too. I am sure I will be able to work around them if I tell them ahead of time.

Hey another N4M gave us an address if anyone wants to send a card or anything to the family who lost their son from the USS Boxer at sea last week. Here it is:

Christ Church of Nashville

15354 Old Hickory Blvd

Nashville, TN. 37211

I am going to send a card to them.

Hi Marcy!!  Yes, things seem to have been quiet here lately.  Where's Michelle? I know she went for her son's homecoming a while ago. Wonder if she's back. Michelle - u there?

Hugs to you, Marcy, you must miss your boys heading so far away. When my son was deployed in that area I had to make an emergency trip to Germany to see my father. While there, both my son and I expressed in our emails to each other that it was nice that the physical distance between us was less. It's that mother and child thing.

My son will be leaving Truman in a couple months, he has received orders to join a squadron, also in Norfolk, that attaches to another carrier at times of deployement/underways. My son is excited. First he goes to a school in another state for about a month. And the squadron is currently away. Oooh, perhaps there'll be some down time between school and squadron's return, allowing for a visit to see Mom??? Wishful thinking probably.

Awesome that you're contemplating a trip to Hawaii!! We'll get to meet you :)
