my son will be graduating RTC in Oct and heading to ft Sam TX. and I have a few questions i was hoping to get some help with.....
1) do they need a good watch with a second hand on it for a school?
2) are they allowed cell phones as long as they are left in their rooms?
3) are they allowed laptops as long as they are left in their rooms when not need?
4) If they want a bike to ride around base to go places is this allowed? i ask because my son loves his bike
5) i have seen several post talking about how the post food isn't all that great and that many sailors either eat out or fix meals in their room. How exactly are they doing this what do they have in their allowed to have in their rooms to cook on?
6) My son will be at A school over the holidays and i was just wondering how the holidays work there in terms of leave. will he be able to request a few days leave to come home to kentucky around christmas or no?

My son was in A School and C school there and yes they were allowed all those things. I know he went to the Navy exchange and stocked up on ramen noodles, michelina's frozen meals and cereals milk and drinks for the fridge, anything that was instant and cooked in the microwave! My son asked for leave over the holidays, and many of them were approved because they finished their A school mid December and had to move to new dorms for C school for January.
My son is graduating on Wednesday and goodness! The money spent on Uber and Lyft! My son and friends have lived their liberty to the fullest- even renting a hotel room 1 night so he could get some good sleep! If your son is anything like mine, there will not be any money saved :)
Does anyone know if the graduation is streamed? Unfortunately, we can't make it. Big bummer.
