My boyfriend graudates from bootcamp next week. He will be coming straight to San Antonio on Saturday. How soon can I go visit? I know that in the beginning they do have to go back to their dorms and stuff at night, but even if I just want a day with him, how soon can that happen? Or one year anniversary is the weekend after graudation, so I was really hoping for that weekend, but it's looking like that is not an option? I have NO CLUE about any of this....help me out???

Congrats on your anniversary and his graduation! That is so exciting.

My husband graduated 6/10 and still hasn't been classed up yet. One of his friends had his wife and kids visit the weekend after they got there and there were no issues. Make sure he fills out a chit requesting you to be his buddy because they can't go anywhere without a buddy. If he doesn't do the chit, he'll need to ask one of his friends to hang out with you guys (that friend will be considered his buddy to leave base)...which just isn't the same when you're celebrating your anniversary. :) There are three phases like Luv said, but I'm not exactly sure what those are or what they entail. I do know that even though my husband is in phase 1 right now, he has partial liberty on the weekends (has to be back by 9 ish at night).

Sorry if this is confusing! I'm still figuring it out myself. :) Good luck!!

From my husband: "He can have visitors on base right away, and most Sailors can go off base on the weekend as long as the class is doing ok and not screwing up." It's much more liberal in A-School than in boot camp. So phase one (as long as they behave) they get liberty on the weekends until nine pm or so, phase two is longer liberty and they can wear civilian clothing, and phase 3 is overnight liberty (With a special request chit). (YEE-HAW)

His CPC at A-School will explain the chit process...it's basically just a form, and not hard to get at all. Your man fills out the chit, hands it back in to his CPC, and the CPC hands them in to the Petty Officer. The Petty Officer then approves it...they're rarely not approved. Make sure he requests the chit asap.

If I were you, I would book a flight on Southwest airlines because if for some reason you have to cancel your flight, you can use the money you spent towards another flight in the future (also, two free checked bags!). You can always book a rental car and hotel and cancel if you don't need those without any financial repercussions (usually).

Ok, so, I think you should go! :) I'll be there the fourth of July weekend...yay!

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions. I can pass them along to my Sailor if I don't know the answer. :)

Gnome~ once again you are awesome. As the wife of Retired Master Chief I am very proud of you. I just found this discussion thread and love how well you are handling all of this. You are so supportive and have been so helpful to so many new wives and girlfriends. Has your husband been put in 175 or 180? Ty is in 175 and started class yesterday. Their class gets to wear their civies this weekend. I sent him another box with the clothes he asked for man it makes his room feel different. Hope you have a great weekend with your hubby! We will be headed down at the end of the month.

Z- good luck with your visit. One of the guys in my son's class @ A school has his wife there. She actually moved to San Antonio about a week after the guys got their. She is able to take dinner to base and spend quite a bit of time with her hubby on the weekends. Like the other two ladies said he won't start school as soon as he gets there, so it is probably advisable to go early. My son said once they start class it is a pretty busy time. They are starting their EMT portion of the class and what takes 6 months in the civilian world they are condensing into 4 weeks. Civilians do not however go to class 5 days a week. Enjoy your anniversary.
