For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Travel expenses home and duty stations
Son will graduate A-school at Fort Sam soon. He is under the impression that he will get 10-14 days of leave to fly home at his expense before reporting to his next duty station (which is only 3 hours from our house). Which part of the travel expense getting to his next duty station is covered by the Navy? Or do sailors always pay out of pocket themselves for travel? If the Navy will cover direct air travel to his duty station, I could easily drive down and pick him up to bring him home for his leave then take him back by car after the leave period expires. When I ask him how this works, I get a lot of "I don't knows" Thanks in advance for any help.

Lynn77, everything changes regularly, but when our son was there they were able to change flight plans, but it was at their expense. If your son can fly to his duty station and be picked up and returned, that would be cheapest for him. They can re-route their flight, but it could be very expensive. We were lucky, as we live in Texas and took our son his car the day before graduation and then he drove home. We just had to take him back to San Antonio for him to get his flight for his duty station (he was heading over seas). I'm sure he doesn't know anything. Our son did not get his information until a day or two before graduation. If you can pick him up and drop him off, I'd go that route.
