Are there certain things one absolutely needs for HM A school? i.e. lap top etc.?? Are there certain things one can not bring to A-school?

I called the base this morning and they said they can bring a laptop, cell phone, and civilian clothes with them, but here are the rules:

Cell phones and laptops can not be brought to class, but can be used in rooms and in common areas.  They have a computer lab that has plenty of computers and internet for studying and homework, so having a personal one isn't mandatory.  The officer also stated that having cell phones is allowed, but they advise against it - especially during phase one of training.  The first phase is fast-paced and they lose several students who are distracted by texting, calls, internet gaming, etc.

They can have civilian clothes, but are only allowed to wear them inside their personal rooms.  I'm taking our son some sleep clothes, anatomy flashcards, and some food to stock in the mini fridge they get in their rooms.

Basically, it sounds like they provide everything that is necessary.

I'm packing for my boyfriend going to A school... I packed a small duffel bag with civilian clothes and shoes. I'm assuming they provide shampoo, soap, towels, etc.? Just want to make sure he has everything he will need! I know he wants to pack as light as possible so if it's not necessary then I won't pack it! Thanks!

What anatomy flash cards are best? Looking on Amazon and there are so May choices!
Thinking I will bring to PIR 3/14/14. So he can start to study right away!

do they need a watch?

I don't know - but my son told me that his recruiter told him that he needed to get a G-Force watch for A School.   Anyway,  we have purchased such a watch for him as a late Christmas  / graduation present for him to give to him at the airport before departing for A School.   Kathy

thanks Kathy - I like that idea!

Where did you get the G-Force watch at ?

I went through Corps School and our instructors suggested we get a watch with a second hand.  Some got the digital kind, but either will do.  The students need it for taking vital signs accurately.

Thanks Trish!

Glad I could help!

Great info. everyone! Thank you!!
