Its July 2, San Diego, C school. When I told him I was coming and he still was graduating 7-2-09, he said, well, yeah, its supposed to, but things come up. Meaning paperwork. In the ET/FC group, many of the sailors don't have copies in their files of their INDOC PO graduation, so they have to take it over.

ITs so nice to hear about your sailors and their BS and going to PIR. Great memories.

Yes, thanks Beth. I am not too proud to ask everywhere I think I can find someone who might know someone. LOL! I'm sure its booked because of the July 4th parades, wouldn't you think? Or maybe sailor families in town for the holiday, so.... But I can't NOT go. He said he's had above 95 during his C school, so he's pretty sure he'll be an honor graduate.

I havn't booked yet, but does anyone know someone in SD I could stay on their couch July 3 4 and 5? I can only get Navy Lodge for June 30 and Julye 1 and 2, then they are booked up.

Great video Pat. I think dressage, lol, as if you could tell at 2 wks, but I love it!!! Our little baby is the first to (instead of circling around his mom over and over like most do) be let out of his stall - charge down the alley way, out to the garden, circle the banana trees, do a figure 8 around the pine trees and race back to his mom. Never seen a baby do that instead of staying in a circle around mom. Must have been the imaginary barrels he saw or something!

The closest I got to going to the Derby was - we lived in Chattanooga, we went to Equitana, and got to visit all of Louisville, the stables, statues, etc., but not during race time.
I know 5 generations away don't count, but my stallion's 5th gen is Depth Charge, half brother to TC winner Count Fleet, his sire Bold Venture was a 2/3 winner. Won the Derby and Preakness - bowed a tendon before the Belmont. He was purchased by King Ranch to put to stud. He was sire of TC winner Assault also. So I guess the dad lived vicariously through his son! ha ha
It was Depth Charge's dam ("Quickly") that was Count Fleet's dam, thus the half brother. I hope nobody misinterprets this as bragging, I most definitely am not. Its not that much to brag about. I just love pedigrees and history - and 5 generations is too far to matter. I took a year off to study my two broodmares (who are sisters) and stallions pedigrees - to compile their stories. I love to hear the history of these magnificent creatures and the stories surrounding them. So much information.
On My stallions app side- 3 generations back is Heza Ghost -which is paternal half brother to Whats Up Ghost, Racing hall of Fame ApHC. so my broodmare sisters and stallion go to 23 hall of fame horses in the QH and ApHC. I don't show, like some of you, so it doesn't really matter, I just like that they've got these wonderful horses to read about and how they became who they were.
Had a new colt yesterday. Pics in the discussion. A great day when babies come! (says Scarlett O'Hara)

Kelly, please take pictures if you go! I'm going to start a discussion so I don't use up a lot of room putting pictures on.

Therese, Hey, someone who knows what the Rolex is! my stallion is out of Studyhall, the Rolex winner and when people come for stud service or to buy a horse, I mention some of the Hall of Famers in his line and no one knows what the Rolex is!!! Weird, huh?

Valorie, so sorry for your incident. Was it something under the saddle blanket or did you ever figure out what it was? Back when we 1st got horses in 96, I thought I'd breed AND be a trainer. That what i wanted to do, LOL. Before my horses were trained, I wanted to sit on them and walk around while my husband held the lead rope. He let go, and off she went. Her sister was running alongside her, it was spring and they both were bucking and kicking up their heels in enjoyment of the spring day. I bailed, jumped off and landed on my collar bone - 5 fractures. Ouch. Thanks to my husband. 2nd time, my son pushed on the accelerator of a truck while I was stacking hay - almost done, standing on the tailgate - and he pushed the accelerator a little too hard. I fell on the ground and watched my leg from the knee down go back and forth, left and right. My ACL was completely torn off, miniscus and MCL. To this day I can't squat, run, go up and down stairs, and I havn't ridden in 2 years. (to my dismay)
Is your niece all right? How are you, did you land on your butt? I don't know if you'll ever trust THAT horse again, unless you discover the reason for the outburst. IMHO. Doesn't mean you won't ever ride him again, just that you'll have to always be aware. I have one mare that spooked on trail rides and I don't trust her completely, never will, so I usually took one of the others most the time, that was more laid back. I just hope YOU are all right.

Hoppy Easter everyone! and a good Friday to you also. Hope you are blessed to share this week-end with family and good friends. As for me, you can't pick your family. LOL! My brother and his 2 sons put down the Navy since they are in the Army - they MUST be so competitive. I don't have time for games, I'm too busy in the garden, breeding is over now, but pastures must be bush hogged and sprayed for weeds and our spreader was picked up in the hurricane with the whole shed and dropped down 2 acres away near my stallions pasture.
