MAMA_C - where do you live in Illinois?  We live in a small town outside of Springfield.

Hello HuffyMom23 I sent you message.  Yes, we are from Illinois and my son is stationed in Yokosuka, Japan.

Does anyone here have a son or daughter who is stationed in Japan?

FYI, head's up! I went to the Rock Island County site to find the application for absentee ballots as we are in Texas for the winter. When I found the applications, I also found a document that lists every person that's requested a ballot. Included in this list are the addresses as well as the type of application. I am concerned that this list "advertises" that we are not home. I am also concerned that it gives out addresses of our military. If this is the policy, it will keep us and our sailor son from voting in the primary.

I contacted three people on a central committee who have, in three days, not been able to get the county clerk to remove the document from the county site--for anyone to see and download.  I am livid!

If your sailor requested an absentee ballot, check your county's website to see if a list of absentee ballot applications are posted.  I don't think this is widespread, at least I hope not.

1after909 - what a small world :)  what did your daughter major in?  Mine is majoring in forensic chemistry.  I really like WIU it is far enough away but close enough to come home if she wants and I really like the campus.  My son was planning on going there before he joined the Navy.
