Just got back from my nephew's wedding in Texas this weekend.  It was good to see our family who left Illinois 10 years ago for work.  However, just as good to get back home and sleep in our own bed.  How a memory foam mattress changes how you sleep!

2thldy he loved SA also. Don't be surprised if it takes up to a month for him to class up. They take the reservists and guys/gals that are returning from fleet and are reclassifying(?). It will probably be around the 12th and 11th week of classes that he will pick orders. It is usually after the EMT portion of classes are done when they do that. They are doing things a little different now then when my son was there. They were still building the clinical area when he was there. I believe that they do clinicals now EMT portion but don't quote me on it. Check out the group for the corpsmen in SA. They are really good about answering tons of questions. There is a gal on there that actually works there and she is amazing about getting answers as quick as she can. Tell him to study hard. Picking his orders does not mean that he will get the one he wants. Sometimes the Navy will put them where they need them. He might not like it and you might not like it but that's how they work. Sometimes the higher the grade the more likely they will get what they want but that doesn't always work out that way. Just tell him to study study study.

Hi everyone.Attended PIR 6/22 wow what an experience...Congrats to ALL who were there...It was great to see my son and we did get to see him off at the airport. And yes it is FREEZING in the PIR Hall so bring a sweater! And Yes if you are going tho the airport you will get a pass to see him off at the terminal..We did not get much time at Midway on Saturday My son arrived at the airport at 2 am and by the time they did a little business with the USO leader..we had a little time to spend with him before he had to check in and then go thru security and board his plane. His flight boarded at 4:40 a and left at 5:10 am. My son is at A school, in Pensacola.  Anyone else have a sailor there already?

Also know that when your sailor is getting ready to fly out you can request a gate pass from the airline that he/she is flying with. You both need to go to the airline counter and they will need to see your id but you can go beyond the gate with them and spend time with them until they leave. You can actually watch them board. I did that when my son left after PIR. It was great. Some additional time with him before he left. Congrats 2thldy! The next phase is beginning. Have fun. kb11175 PIR will be here before you know it and things will get easier. My son went to SA for awhile also. He is now at Camp Pendelton and loving it.
