FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO GET STARTED:

Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Appears that I will have to reschedule the Saturday morning "Meet & Greet" at the Olive Garden.

I think that I was the only one showing up at 11:00.  Since people will look at me funny if I am sitting there talking to myself, I will reschedule.  Have a great weekend everyone.

Laura, so sorry I can't make it I'm a nurse and have to work the Memorial Weekend but please keep me in mind for the next one. Helo to all who will attend and hope to meet some of you soon. My son is still in Boot camp(4 wks left Yahoo!)

tbears73, my son opted not to take his cell phone. He actually made his "I've arrived" brief call from GL from another recruit's cell phone, so be prepared to answer the phone irregardless of the phone # on your caller ID. I dropped my son at the recruiters' office in Springfield & he was driven to St Louis.

I wish I could but happily I will be out on Lake Michigan fishing for salmon WITH MY SAILOR!!!!! Hmm, it sounds like I'm using him as bait doesn't it? Well, you guys know what I mean :)

I just left the recruiting office in moline. Cell phones will be in the box. Sailors are cut off from the world so they can concentrate on learning their Navy job.

Pretty sure he said active military receives free phone cards.
