@ Susie,  I am about 1 hr 40 min east of Fairview.  We are pretty close to each other,  I am definitely up for a meet and greet.  Mid to late March would be good for me.  My son is home end of Feb First of March and then deploys.  I will need a pick me up after he leaves.

Laura- my son got flown aboard last deployment as well, and said it was the coolest experience ever:). I to am dreading the upcoming deployment and even though I have been through it many times it never gets any easier:(. I am already starting to gather up items to get the care packages ready to go. I would love to meet up with you and anyone else in the area that would like to join. March is pretty open for me at this point:)

Just got back from Power School graduation. It was great to spend the weekend with our sailor since we won't see him again until after prototype finishes in Aug. But, it will feel great to sleep in my own bed...

@short Becky. - I am about a hour east of fairview, but I am in that area about every weekend. My son is stationed on the philipean sea. He returned back from his first tour around thanksgiving. It was hard but I don't know if the E is like his ship but he called about once a week and when he stopped in at different ports. It helped to hear his voice and to read his emails between the calls. Let me know if we can meet up sometime along with anyone else in the southern Illinois.

Hii gals!

Just catching up...

Ruth...that was a beautiful story....  brought tears...... thanks for sharing it!

Dodie...hope your sailor did well on his test.

Carol...How exciting to get to see your sailor soon!

Laura...The Navy will fly your sailor out to the ship...sometimes they wait until the ship is in port and other times they will fly them to the nearest Naval base then they will fly them out to the ship...It is a very exciting experience...one of my sailors has done it a few times...he loves it...major adreneline rush!

Sandy....Loved Wednesdays the highlight of my weeks during Bootcamp....The poor mailmen.....I wonder if any of them get a "complex" after they have to deal with us crazy "stalking" Navy moms....LOL..... 2 weeks in 6 or so to go!!  Keep us updated!

Suggestion for a lunch...I would love to meet you Northern and Southern Navy moms...How about we all meet in the middle!?  Springfield or Bloomington??  I live in Decatur but will travel where ever..... if I can get there! LOL

Have great day

ShortBecky, I think we need a Southern IL meet and greet too.  I am near St. Clair Square.  Any other down-staters up for that?  Got to stay away from St. Pat's weekend though--I will be at PIR!!

Wow 3 Enterprise Moms on here.  Unfortunately I am in So ILL.  Would love to meet you northern Moms.  My son is an ET on the Big E.  He has been in for 2 years but this is his first big deployment.  He was in school for a long time. I dont know about you but I am dreading the deployment.

Mattsmom - My son will be finishing "C" school as an IS then he is being assigned to the Enterprise!

There is a tricky part.  The Enterprise is due to leave before my son finishes "C" school.  He is going to have to catch up to the ship.  Been told that he may have to be flown onto the ship.  He would love it, I would probably have my eyes closed the entire time!

I think that we need another Northern Illinois luncheon!  Schaumburg good for everyone?  In March perhaps?
