Hi, Johnnie. My daughter celebrated her 18th birthday at bootcamp last August. I tried to replace worry and missing her with planning a family trip to the next spot where she was going to be stationed. We all had a great trip to SanAntonio in October, where she was in Corpsman Training. She is home now, until tomorrow, but we are having fun looking at houses for rent in Pensacola, FL for a family trip in June. This is helping her to be less nervous about her new home and job in Pensacola, and gives me something to look forward to...so tomorrow won't be so rough.
Hello, my daughter is 19 and about to graduate from bootcamp on Jan. 6th. I was really worried about her, but i was able to adipt her for Christmas and realized that she is doing great and was so happy she made the choice to go into the Navy. I am new to the Navy Mom group and look forward to hearing from mom who have ideas about how not to miss your child so much.
Welcome drwcrw6, and yes this is great place for support and info. When you find out your daughter's PIR you will want to also join that group. If at anytime you have any questions just ask and we will answer them if we can. We are all here for each other.
This is my first post any where on this site. My 19 y.o. daughter signed up in September and leaves March 26th. Luckily we are close to Great Lakes, and we won't have to travel far for Graduation. After BC she will be going to Pensacola for A school. I am getting ready to start planning her "Anchors Aweigh" party and am getting emotional. She is excited and has a countdown til she leaves. I know I will be on N4M's more often. This is a great site to have for support!
Thanks to all for the Christmas greetings. We also had a great Christmas. Our sailor was very handsome in his dress blues and everyone had to have their picture with him. Everyone says he has changed alot but, I can still see a little of my boy in there. We are trying to to cram as many memories in as we can during his stay knowing it may be a long time before he gets back home. We hope everyone has a healthy and happy new year.
I hope everyone had a great Christmas, I did. I got a Christmas video this morning from my deployed sailor and then he called tonight. This is one happy Navy Mom.
MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!!!!!!!!!!
medic mom--just met another medic out of training at San Antonio. He thought the base was much nicer than staying up at Great Lakes. We only talked a minute or two while he was on break visiting/working at recruiter's office.
to all my Illinois Moms and Families--((((hugs!))))
