Earl's mom, Pat's is right, but if you are lucky and they have a few days break that just might let him come home over night because you are close. They let Kel and we over a 100 miles, but he had to back bright and early. Be prepared though, I have seen some that have to get right on the bus to the airport and the family followed them there to spend a little time. Remember we are here if you need to talk..or stay busy Huggs.....it is get better...
Earl's Mom, Sorry to tell you but after PIR (graduation) they do not come home. It's straight to A-school.
Wow you all cherish those phone calls..... my son has been in bootcamp for a week i didnt get a call. I would have loved to talk for a moment! I did recieve a "form letter"--yeah!!! My baby wrote the sweetest note
"he justs wants me to be proud of him"
little does he know ive always been proud of him!!!!
anyone out there have a recruit graduating in january?
once they graduate they get to spend two weeks at home right?
Anyone who had a recruit at the VFW yesterday...........they put envelopes on the tables and the recruits were supposed to fill out their home addresses and their table number. The VFW will then mail you a picture!!
phone call privileges are different from division to division...there are no hard fast rules. so never go bye what others are able to do. I know yesterday I gave one young man a slip of paper with info on it and he told me nope couldn't take it his division was really strict and his buddy was going to carry and keep the info for him....it is just like it will be later, every division will be different even if they do the same exact job, BC is no different. ......if any oh you had children that ate at the VFW in Villa Park ( we had 15 of them ) .I have some pictures of you would like to see them...they are also on my FB
peace
@Laurie - if you're talking about the initial "i'm here" call, most likely not. however, my boyfriend had his cell and was able to call his mom and then snuck in a second call to me, but he just said "i love you, goodnight, bye". that's the only call we have received so far and we are on week 3 of him being there. i would say it would just depend on how much time they are given! best wishes to you and your SR! :)
Laurie--your question about phone calls is better answered on Bootcamp Moms group page. They would have the most recent info. However, they are only given so many minutes to make calls. We missed one when he had 20 minutes, but 3 of his friends got the calls and then let us know he was ok.
Good Morning to my Navy Family... Happy Black Friday... I am so happy for the ones that got to talk to their Sailors or SRs yesterday.. My sailor called his dad yesterday and I wasn't there.. My husband had already left my moms house and was at his parents house when the call came in... I stayed behind to help my mom clean up the mess from dinner.. I am just glad my Sailor got to talk to his grandpa and grandma.. That is what I wanted anyways. His grandpa was in the Navy too and my Sailor is the first grandson on that side of the family.. So I know it made my father in-laws day to get to talk to him..
