Hello everyone I am new on here my son signed yesterday off to basic in 8 months and 9 days !!!!!! I am so proud of him.

Good morning to everyone,  I am new here.  My child is in the process of enlisting.  We hope to have this done very soon.  We are getting a big taste of "hurry up and wait". I have read here that that is common. Limbo is nerve wracking.

I look forward to talking with you all and meeting anyone near the Fairview Heights area.  My tech skills are from the caveman era, but this will be the incentive I need to catch up.  I would like to be able to communicate with my sailor when away as well as all of you.  I will definitely need the support.

Jacqueline--it is weird for the longest time, not being able to hear from your SR son.

Panera Bread could be good, as we wouldn't be tying up anyone's table from tips.  I'm good for it.

Hello, everyone.  I haven't been around much lately because i've been focused on other things.  I put my son on the bus for MEPS in St. Louis at 1000 this morning.  I should get the call from Great Lakes sometime tomorrow night.  This concludes the DEPS portion of our program.  There mey be a brief interruption in sanity while our SR proceeds to boot camp.  We hope to resume normal programming soon.  Well, maybe in a few days.  More likely in a few weeks.  Okay, two months, tops.  Or never.  That's what it feels like now.

Carol, there are several places that come to mind on the SW area of Spfd on Veterans Parkway (IL Rte 4). Appleby's, Panera Bread, Olive Garden, Longhorn, Lone Star,  Chili's, & TGI Fridays.

Sounds like we could have an M & G near Springfield. who lives up that way and can get some suggestions together of where it could be?
