Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by SandySea on November 9, 2011 at 12:10pm: Good morning to everyone, I am new here. My child is in the process of enlisting. We hope to have this done very soon. We are getting a big taste of "hurry up and wait". I have read here that that is common. Limbo is nerve wracking.

I look forward to talking with you all and meeting anyone near the Fairview Heights area. My tech skills are from the caveman era, but this will be the incentive I need to catch up. I would like to be able to communicate with my sailor when away as well as all of you. I will definitely need the support.

Panera Bread could be good, as we wouldn't be tying up anyone's table from tips. I'm good for it.

I put my son on the bus for MEPS in St. Louis at 1000 this morning. I should get the call from Great Lakes sometime tomorrow night. This concludes the DEPS portion of our program. There mey be a brief interruption in sanity while our SR proceeds to boot camp. We hope to resume normal programming soon. Well, maybe in a few days. More likely in a few weeks. Okay, two months, tops. Or never. That's what it feels like now.
