FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO GET STARTED:

Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

No we haven't met. My son went in in July. PIRed in September and is now in San Antonio trainging for medic. It is rare to meet someone from around here. LOL

I will definitely keep you posted!!  It just all depends on when my son's flight to A school leaves from Chicago on Saturday. It's a 3 and 1/2 hour drive back from GL to Peoria.  Our flight leaves Peoria on Sunday at around noon I think.

Sounds good barb!!  I'll be there next month to fly into Peoria and pick up my mom and drive to GL for PIR on 12/2 but don't know if I'll have time to meet on that trip or not.  My son is a grad & go so he will be leaving Sat after PIR to fly out to A school in FL.  So after that we are driving back to Peoria.  Maybe if we get back in time, we could meet up Sat night....

Barb, I go to Peoria often (at least once a year to see my family)!  I will definitely have to meet with you!! That would be awesome!!

I noticed in my original post I said my mothers and siblings still live there.. ha ha .  I only have one mother!!!  It was late last night when I posted that.  LOL

Welcome our new family members proud I live about hour north of Peoria. And I'm attending aurora university. B my question is??? My son has been home for a wek now. And don't know how I will let him leave I thought after 8 years this would get easier. Wrong again

Hi Proud navy mom looks like you have a lovely family, my daughter just graduated two weeks ago and is in Monterey california for CIT, as you probably know the first few weeks are really hard  but it is all worth it. We live in Bloomington, been here for 11 years, originally from uptown NY but I am from Scotland and my husband, an ex nuke is from MaIne.Really nice to meet you.
