OK, I just had to show you ladies the cake my friend made for Andrew's going away party! It looked amazing and tasted as good as it looked! How creative! :)

Thanks for the welcome! He had his 7day meeting with the recruiter today... This is the first time since he started the DEP program that he has said he's nervous. My nerves started on day one! Haha. I hope you all are having a fabulous week! :)

Huggs Pam, it makes it so much harder when they are our children's ages...

We had a local Marine killed Sunday same age as my son.  My heart goes out to his family.

Allie--I'll be thinking of you as we celebrate early Thanksgiving with our sailor Andrew on his base this week.  You have my shoulder to lean upon.  The dog sitter comes over tomorrow (we have two really old dogs, and they like having someone live at our house---plus, the young adults who stay really like being away from their parents.)  I still have laundry, cleaning, packing, post office, cakes to hospice, cards to the youth group to sign...and lots more to do.  Yikes, how did this week pop up so quickly?

Love to all--Carol

Well, Andrew leaves in 2 weeks for boot camp. It's starting to get real! I'm so nervous but I'm so proud of him!! :)

Salissa, I agree w/Linda. It is highly improbable that he will be allowed to come home for both Thanksgiving & Christmas. Where is he in the nuke pipeline? If he just got to Goose Creek, he be able to take leave during the Christmas stand down 12/21/11-1/3/12. As far as Thanksgiving, they are usually granted leave but can leave the base as liberty provided they adhere to the distance rules depending upon what phase he is in. My son is in power school. Since he is not allowed to fly home, he will be going home w/a classmate to Clearwater.
