Laura, so happy you had such a great time with your son and made it back home safely.  What a wonderful story.

Had a fabulous 41 hours with my son!

It took us 18 hours of driving through construction, fog & congestion to get to him but it was well worth it!  We drove his vehicle out to him, picking up his girlfriend along the way, had a wonderful visit & flew home.

His officers & instructors extended us some wonderful military courtesy.  My son is in "A" school phase 2 & doesn't have overnight liberty. My son put the temp phase up request in & hoped for the best.  He showed his dad as being Army, Sergeant First Class.  The final interview person questioned him about his the rank. He wanted to know what the Army rank translated to in Navy rank.

My son said "Senior Chief", the person said "Have fun" and signed the request!

Beth, we're only about 50mi from St Louis. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any nonstop flights from St louis to Charleston. Delta's stopover is in Atlanta. Every time my son son has flown Delta, they have upgraded him to 1st class - nice perk. US Air stopover is Charlotte. Southwest stopovers vary by flight, I've seen Nashville, Midway, and Baltimore.

Also, American's main hub is O'Hare & I generally like to avoid Chicago during the winter...especially after this past winter.

Pam, every time I've checked American's website, they've been much higher than Delta, US Air, & Southwest...

Dodie did you check American Airlines?  They give discounts to the military.

Yeah Dodie!!!!!! Delta gave our sailor free baggage back to Goose Creek and all his extras he picked up from the house to take back with him.

I bought my son's airline tickets for his Christmas leave from Power School. I actually found the best price with Delta, although I did check US Air & Southwest. I wonder how he'll like December temps in Illinois after being in Charleston, SC:)
