Rlbly--I know Effingham, but have never heard of Stewardson.  How have your first days gone without your SR?

I'll let you know the next time we go out to visit Menard's hardware store and see if we can meet.  No house projects going on at the time, but sometimes we head up there after church "just because."

kathleen - There is also a bus company, LEX Express. It makes trips from downtown Chicago to the different college campuses including Bloomington. I believe the cost to Bloomington is about $45.00.

The only benefit to this is that the bus has later departure times.  I have never personally used it but you might want to Google it and see if it would work for your son.

Kathleen, like Barb said metro to Amtrack is the best way.  There is Peoria Charter Coach but he would have to take a cab to the air port to catch it and the cab is something like $40.00.  My son took Peoria charter 1 time because he got out too late to catch the train and afterwards he said never again, it cost way too much.  Good luck to your son with his A school.

The metra is $2 for Military in uniform from great lakes and I believe $5 for everyone else. Each way. Of course(:

I need your help ladies. My son is at Great Lakes for A-School, we live in Bloomington/Normal. Does anyone know of different ways for him to get home, like shuttles, bus, I know the Amtrak but he would have to take a cab to downtown Union Station then the train, he is concerned about not making it to train station on time if liberty is called late. Help Please??
