I knew the centinneal part... but omg 14,000!?! GEESH! I've been planning on being at the gate before it opens anyway so thats good. I was expecting like 5,000 people... I can't even imagine what 14,000 looks like! This will definitely be a day to remember!

Sorry for all the typos - was gardening all day and I am a little brearey eyed.  The ceremony will be held on Ross field.  You can see a base map on line.  When you come in the main gate the field will be in front of you.  The base was on lock down since Bin Laden, but they have opened up the gates again.

Good luck & have fun!  p.s..should be 90 on Friday.

JessicaB - Your boyfriens PIR 7/1 is going to be TOTALLY diferent than anyone has ever experienced before. Hubby works at Great Lakes. Here is the scoop...

It is the 100 year anniversary of Naval Station Great Lakes. Instead of the graduation ceremony being inside of the main hall on the RTC side of the base it is going to be held on the main base on Ross field.

Rodd Field faces the main clork tower in building one.  There will be tons of dingataries as well as grads & family. They are expecting 14,000 attendees.

The base is sprucing up because Vice President Biden is scheduled to attend.

There will be activities & events scheduled for the entire weekend. Hubby is taking Friday off of work because the base will be up for grabs crazy with people.  Give yourself LOTS of extra time!
