I have the pass. Got that part, don't worry. I have five copies stashed all over my car haha! I just never got to read the information, but the awesome ladies in my PIR group filled me in so I think I will be okay.

Jessica...you cannot drive on the base with out the base pass...it is a code that you type in on line and you print the pass at home...but it you are taking a shuttle you won't have a problem

There is a way to get it on line for that side of the base.  Look at the letter he sent home I think it tells in there how to get it.  It has been so long, my son just grad. from his A school, his PIR was last Dec.  Also if you are staying at a hotel up there there are shuttle services, and that way you don't have to worry about parking.  That's what we did.

Pam, my boyfriend has PIR friday, Can you explain in detail the process of getting a gate pass? I think I have the jist of it but I'm a worry-er haha.

Laura,  We have all been there.  Hang in there we are all here for you.

Just got back from Great Lakes today, my last trip up there.  My sailor flew out to Va Saturday night.

By the way in cases any of you didn"t know if you have a sailor flying out you can get a gate pass and go to the gate with them.

I had hoped to get to the Lt. Dan concert, but kept thinking something else was going on.  I spent last week at Iowa American Legion Auxiliary Girls State--then I realized what it was.  The state convention is in Davenport that weekend, and I need to be there.  (I live in Illinois, but am a member in Iowa.  It keeps my options open!!!)  On a positive note, I picked up another Navy mom and got some members interested in Molly's moms.

My daughter leaves for Great Lakes Weds, and is just now telling me she needs different things to take??? All I know is stamps, address book and a phone card! I was under the impression everything else was gotten there? Does anyone know of a list or know first hand? Feel like I am going crazy here!
